Alberta became a province in 1905 when it joined confederation. Alberta got its name after Princess Louise Alberta, daughter of Queen Victoria and Albert. Alberta is celebrating 100 years in the year 2005. Alberta consists of: 661 190 square kilometers. Mixed with prairie, rolling hills, and snowy mountains, bordered east by the province of Saskatchewan, and to the west by the Rocky Mountains & British Columbia.

Alberta is famous for chinook winds, that can take the province from -18°C to +3°C in a matter of hours.
