The Lonely Old Lady
The lonely old lady rocks to and fro
wondering where her happiness did go
Like an escape from her aches and pains
her youth, through her memories, she does regain.
Back in time, she runs barefoot through fields of green
And dances beneath the night's moonbeam
Youg and innocent once again
untouched by this world of sin.
From youthful joy into womanhood
all her memories seem fresh and good
Amazingly she recaptures so many years
that it fills her eyes with joyous tears.
She feels her husband's gentle kiss
and his touch, oh, how he's missed
Around her finger, her baby's grasp is still tight
While her bosom holds onto that love with all its might.
Everyone has come and gone
leaving her old and all alone
But her memories comfort her each day
and makes her old age a less painful stay.
