Christmas Past
Where is the Christmas, I knew as a girl/boy
When parents struggled to buy one toy
The joy of giving was true and sincere
And Christmas not one day but all of the year.
It's very possible a return to the old
With people praying not just for gold
Praying together helping one and all
No need for presents, still having a ball.
It's now out of hand some never learn
At Christmas they spend more than they earn
Caught up in the tide of modern spending
Without true feeling, debt never ending.
Give Christmas back to the children again
Stay out of their fun, amen and amen
Get back to the basics, live like we should
I know if you try, I know that you could.
