Yesterday a guy came to replace my fishtank filters.  After he left, I realized that part of the filtration system wasn't working right.  Knowing I wouldn't be able to reach him, I went to break. He was in the breakroom.  He asked me to show him what was wrong, and we went back to the tanks.
While we were working on it, he got a phone call.  I went back to the lounge because there was nothing more I could do.
Shortly, he showed up in the breakroom again, saying he had fixed the filtration system.  Cool!
Then he started adding cross braces to the legs of every chair in the breakroom.  He said he was hired to do that too.  The reason why, was because an assoc was injured when the chair they were sitting in collapsed, and he (or she) sued the company.  I don't know about any award to the assoc, but the guy said that W*M has hired folks to reinforce all the chairs.  Maye the person was very heavy, but maybe the chairs we have weren't rated for more than 200 pounds.  We have lots of folks who weigh more than that at my store, and they aren't all overweight.

They did the same thing at my store.
One did collapse on an associate. As far as her weight she is only about 115 pounds at the most.

We don't use those kind of chairs in our breakroom.  Ours were purchased from the Sam's Club next door.  They're a white resin, but I can't think of the brand.

We used to have that type too.  We switched over to these grey ones all at once, sometime within the last year.  Those white ones didn't stand up well to the abuse they got in my store.
We still have the ugly white tables that were made by the same company that made the white chairs.  Who in the world thought that using a rough texture on the plastic was a good idea?  There's no way to get them really clean-looking.  Our maintenance folks use a bleach solution on them, but they still look dingy.

Those are the ones we have at my store. They are crap. They put the supports on them.
Do the seats on yours crack too? Most of the chairs in our breakroom have cracked along the back of the seat.

Yeap chair screws looked like they were coming up welds looked  cracking cause old grey chairs only had the one support  on them right were your arrow is new chairs have two additional  supports underneath them the seat and now  I get to deal with CMI since Wal-Mart has waited too long to fix a problem they knew existed I am glad for the rest so no one else will have to experince a injury

Now that the chairs have ben "fixed," people are bumping their shins on the back of the chairs (when they try to shove them under the table), or bruising their calves when they tuck their feet up under the chair.  I'm not happy with the fix, but at least they're safer.

Some of our chairs are cracking on the seat around the screws in the metal that is underneath.  those chairs looked so nice when they were new now they are all full of cracks in the seats and the backrest.  I have not noticed any trouble with the metal supports.

look under the chair if they only have 1 support underneatg the seat the welds on each  side of the chair and back of the chair as well will eventually break on you on someone from your store will end up on the floor as well
