: Does your store handle Gemini use well? |

When I was writing about Garvey guns, I thought about how frustrating it is to try to get my job done, without a Gemini most of the time. I asked mgmt if we could assign specific Gemini's to specific dept mgrs, if they both agree to it. That way, those of us who follow the rules, would be able to get a Gemini when we need one. We're not supposed to check them out until 8 am, but by then, there are few left. I often have to aske several people if I can use theirs. Mmgt reminds us that we need to do our picklists, BAM screens, count/post our outs, scan our bins, work the bins, etc., every day before 11 am. Mgmt won't do anything to curb improper use. They say that we are adults and that it's up to "us" to manage the Gemini's properly. Some days, I let my Gemini duties slide, because I am tired of pleading for one. Recently, I have borrowed the Gemini from the Deli mgr. Turns out she has one all day, every day, per mgmt, but she really doesn't need it that much. She's really generous with it, so I am happier. We have the same problem at my store too Mad. In the photo lab we need one throughout the day for pricing pictures. Some MS's hide theirs and so we had to sign it out for the day, but we still had people hiding them. With inventory coming up people will be hiding them agian. When our MS in the photo lab takes it to help in another area he reminds me to page if I need it but when I do he does not hear me. I know one of our Geminis disappeared, another store borrowed one for inventory and never gave it back. We also had one get crushed in the compacter. They ordered and new one with no problem but they won't order enough for each department to have one. Most people at night use the gemini to scan returns to see where they go |

We have THIRTY-NINE Gemini's at my store. After accounting for all the people who "have" to have one, every day, for 8 hours, that leaves about 18 for the little people to use. Then, there are those who wheedle mgmt into giving them one, and the folks who get into the UPC office before the Invoicing clerk comes in. When the dept mgrs are "allowed" to sign one out at 8 am; there may be 8 in the UPC office. Half the time, I have to borrow one from someone about 2 pm. So much for picklists, BAM screen, etc. Mad |

Mad have you lost your mind? I can't believe you used the term (little people). I am not a manager but need a telxon or Gemini also.I do Bam screen,Multi item packages,and my own claims.I guess I am one of your little people. |

Learning, you're a goof-ball. The "little people" I was referring to, are the ones who follow the rules and don't whine to mgmt to get them to give us a Gemini, like the ones who always have one when they want one. I am one of those little people too. Mad  |

We have dept mgrs who lock "theirs" in their lockers. It really becomes a "who you know" game in order to even get one if you've not been assigned one. YUK! |

we just became a gemini store tuesday.We were told that they had to be turned in at the end of your shift.No department has a special one .Do not mark them in any way.If you do not turn it in,your serial number will be blocked so you won't be able to use it anyways. The problem is by 8 or 9 oclock,when some of us start work,they will be all gone. Don't ask me who is going to check to see if they were turned in? I give it two weeks. |

It is the same for me too Learning. I work in the photo lab and we need our Gemini all day. For a while we turned ours in at night but if my Merchandise manger was off I did not come in untill 8am and they would all be gone and it is impossible to get one once they have all been taken. They finally have one just for Photo lab and it has been better. Now when our MM takes it all we need to do is page him for it when we need it. |
