Is anyone following the new guidelines for settig mods?
We're supposed to be, but apparently my mods are not important enough, because my asst told me to just do them like normal.
The formal way, is for the asst mgr over the mod team, to arrange for who's going to help, and when.  Often, it will be done on 3rd shift.  Prior to that event, the dept mgr is supposed to pre-load each shelf strip, with the labels, for the entire mod.  That way, anyone who can read numbers, will be able to help set the mod, without having to think very hard.  I think this is crazy.  Imagine trying to keep the strips in order, and not lose any labels?   Not to mention, peghooks.
We are also to replace ALL the strips, not just the damaged ones--so much for being green!
We have a modular room, which has all our supplies, including flag sleeves and peghook covers, in it.  I haven't even seen the inside of it.
The store mgr told the dept mgr in Toys, to inactivate all her seasonal items.  After discussing it with some of us, she printed off all her shelf labels (on white paper), and gave it to her asst mgr, so he could give it to the store mgr, so he could inactivate everything.  What was he thinking?  Or, better yet, Was he thinking?
The asst mgr in charge of the mods team told the Toys mgr to recruit foks to help with her mods.  The co-mgr told the Toys mgr, that it's the resposibility of the asst mgr over the mod teams to find folks to help her.
Huh?!

never heard of such a thing....  this sure sounds crazy... and might have your dept. looking terrible with mod intergrity.   I have been doing my own mods and rather keep it that way.. I know that for sure they are getting down right and shelf cap is correct.
What is this company thinking ?  Some of the crazy ideas that have been flying around its totally nuts.

We've been doing our mods like this foralmost 2years. It does seem silly at first, but it does make things go much faster.

The mods usually drop a week befor the labels, so we print them then, then we have to figure out how many people we will need to set the mod. The Friday before we set it we print the labels and set them in the fast track or in a peg cover and slide that on a piece of fast track,

We work in teams, one team takes the deleted merchandise off the shelf, and the next team comes through and removes the oldfast track and cleans and adjusts the shelvesand or sets the pegs, the next team goes through and snaps the new preloaded fast track on and snaps on the preloaded peg covers. The last team moves the merchandise to the correct location voila the mod is set. We usually do ours on Sunday night and have 1 night to complete the mod.

Only the store manager or Co-manager can finanlize the mod, so they have to talk it off then we can complete the shelf cap ect. It usually takes 8-10 people to do a mod.
I had 10 when we set electronics in 1 night and that included moving and replacing the TV wall.

Wow Blossom, that sounds incredible!  I can see how it would be good for doing a large number of mods, at once.  However, at my store, it wold be a miracle if 8 people agreed to work overnight at one time.
In a dept like mine, where the mods are not usually that time consuming, I rarely get any help at all. I did have a lot of help one time, and it was difficult for me to let other people do things "their" way.  I left them alone, but it wasn't done the way I would have done it.  However, it needed to be done faster than usual, so it was the way to go.
I am very impressed by how your store handled the D5 reset.  I need to start adjusting my attitude; in case they start doing this at my store!
