Hi,
       Was just wondering if any one else's store is doing this. Putting warning noticed on associates vehicles stating they have violated Walmart Parking Policy ..

Got one today and was told the next one time it would be a verbal,than a written and than a displinary action leading upto termination and vehicle being towed at your exspense..

Seems kinda harsh I think,been ther 5 years and this is the first  it has been mentioned.Checking to see if it might be every walmart or just my store.

Welcome to the site, wally cashier!
I haven't heard anything about this.  Are you sure it's from mgmt, and not a prank by some joker in your store?
I'm assuming this note was put on cars that were not parked in the assoc parking area.  I get tired of assoc's parking in other spots, but not enough to say anything to mgmt.  I have a co-worker who is handicapped, and she always parks in the first spot in front of the store.  Not sure if that's totally OK.  I wish she would park farther out, on the days when she feels good.  I don't expect her to give up the HC parking totally.
Something else to worry about---oy.

We don't do anything like this at my store.  But, we do have a blue line that's painted on the ground indicating where we are supposed to park.  The line is out near the 3rd light pole, which is quite a ways out.  But, I understand why the rule is there, give me a little more exercise I guess!

They tried this at our store,the first week it scared a lot of associates.By the second week,there was no one to go out and check cars.By the third week it was history.This wouldn't hold water as they would have to tag every associate who was in violation or it would be discrimanation.Give it two weeks wally.Can you just see management going out in the rain or snow?  NOT!

Hi Wally Cashier.  I have not heard of that.  My store has associate parking too.  Most of us park in that general direction.  There is a sidewalk dividing the parking lot and as lone as we park on the east side of it they don't say anything.  I have never had management say anything to me about where I have parked.  We have some people that refuse to park out there but no one says anything.  My store is in a bad neighborhood and when people get off after dark they don't like to park out there.

We have white painted lines for associates to park in. Below is a small graphical outline of what I mean.

Each aisle is like this....

// white
// white
// white
// white
// white
// white
// white
// white
// yellow
// yellow
// yellow
// yellow
// yellow
// yellow
// yellow
// yellow
// yellow
// yellow

The whole lot is like this, but some dont do it and most of the o-niters dont do it. The mgrs have signs posted and in the bi-weekly small store newspaper they pass out with the paychecks they will remind associates to park only in the white spaces.

mreighties :)

We have "associate" parking at my store too. One of the associates had her tires slashed and her car keyed when she parked in the "North 40". My feeling on this is....when I park I am not clocked in and can therefore park where I want, especially if I go in early to get some shopping done. When they put a time clock in the parking lot so I can clock in before I park then I will park in the "WHITE ZONE".
We have not been given any kind of "ticket" and I don't think WM can enforce the parking thing unless it is a company policy and if it is then EVERY Store Manager in EVERY store should have the same rules. I don't think we should have to endure damage to our vehicles just becuz certain WM store managers are having a "power trip" and getting off on their authority. If WM pays for my car insurance and then meets my deductible I will park where they want me too, until then I will park where security can watch my vehicle and where it will sustain the least damage.

I have never heard of the yellow/white lines.  Maybe we have them, and mgmt has never told us about it!
We did have some trouble a couple of years ago, with assoc's cars being broken into, in the assoc's parking area.  I don't know what they did to make it better, or if it was just a coincidence.
I figure any time you park in a parking lot, you run the risk of damage.

For the life of me, I have never understood the problem with parking for associates at Walmart.

It is the customer that provides us with a paycheck; what in the world is wrong with providing the customer parking places closest to the store?  I am sure if an associate is disabled and unable to walk they will make special arrangements for them.

I have been with Walmart since 1994 and there has always been a place for associates to park, whether it be with the white lines or a lot around back of the store.  I have never had an issue with it, as all businesses assign parking places for associates-employees.  Policies are policies, you either abide by them or suffer the aftermath.

I don't mind parking out the north 40 either. don't get me wrong, but it does suck in the winter (I live in Iowa) when you're hoofing it on and it's below zero. Guess that gives us an incentive to walk faster!

I wonder if other retail places require their employees to park in certain places...

hum.... don't know if we have an associate parking area.... we were just told we can't park in front of the store.  Most use the side of the building for parking.. others use the top of the hill with newer cars.. and away from everyone.

Tweety--I tend to feel the same way.  I have never bothered to get upset about where we "have" to park.  I park there because that's where they told us to.  Same reason why I enter and exit through the Grocery entrance.  They told us to do that, so why get upset about it; just do it.  My husband started a tirade when I told him about going in and out the same door all the time.  I figure I'll save my energy for things that are important------like being able to get a FREAKIN' Gemini!

The parking policy is on the wire. I can't remember the number, but it is a 'PD- ' policy and does state that any associates who do not follow the policy can be disciplined (coaching) and that Walmart may have the associate's car towed at the associate's expense.

RE the customer statement - we are all customers until we clock in. Once we are clocked in, we are on the clock and associates, and our cars are in the customers parking spots at that point.

I think this is such a silly thing to get in trouble for personally. If someone needs to park closer, they just need to talk with management. I'd rather have my car towards the back of the lot and away from the carts flying amuck as well. Just my 2 cents.

We have a security person that drives around in a car during the day.  I think they are on the lot from 6am to midnight.  We have a sidewalk down our parking lot and the white lines for associate parking start about 1 aisle west of the sidewalk.  Management has not said anything as long as you are west of the sidewalk.   I don't mind parking out there I can see my car and if anything looks odd I can go in and get someone to go out with me.

Other retail places require it too. I know someone who worked for K-Mart and one who works for Lowes and both have to park in a certain area too.
