Yesterday while I was on break the Coke guy was in putting on new graphics on the soda machine.  Earlier in the week the Pepsi guy was in doing the same thing.  The Coke guy said the machine would be changing from bottles to cans.  I think our Pepsi machine has already been converted to cans but it is either empty or not working.  Apparently home office does not want us to have our bottles of soda on the sales floor.  They put the new graphics on the machines in the entryway too but they still sell bottles.   I was wondering if any of your Coke or Pepsi machines in your breakroom were going to be dispensing cans instead of bottles?

Pepsi bottled one went a couple months ago,

Coke one just made its exit this week.

I guess they decided that is was so much cheaper to buy out of the machines in the back instead of through checkouts and we can't have that so out they went.

Plus I guess some associates were getting bottled ones from the coolers at the checkouts but saying they got it from the machine in the breakroom.

I've been meaing to drink more water anyway. I prefered the bottled drinks over can while at work. And no way am I going to pay that much nor bother to stand in line everyday for a bottled one at the checkouts so in a way it has helped me to stick to the drink more water thing I wanted to do LOL

We've always had cans in our break room.  Bottles would have been nice.

My store does not have a sandwich machine.  My old store did for a short time.  It would trip a breaker in the electrical room and would be without power.  When someone fixed it the food had spoiled and the vendor had not been notified the power was off to the machine and did not replace the food.  That happened twice and the vendor took the machine away.  It was also nice for that short period of time we had the sandwich machine we also had a change machine.  My only problem with the soda machines is that there is not very many diet sodas or water (just plain water not that sugar loaded vitiman inhanced crap).

In the 2 yrs I have been employed our machines have alway been cans with the exception of the small water bottle.  And no one is allowed to have anything but water on the floor.  However, if you work in the cash office, invoicing, claims, personnel you may drink whatever you choose as long a it is non-alcohol.  Any comments?
By the way: our pop machines only work half the time.  The rest of the time they are either jammed with change or empty.

Lots of sales leads on the grocery side have cups of coffee tucked away in their areas.  A lot of mgrs have soft drinks in the ad office, and as you said, people in the offices have drinks too.  The cashiers are good about only drinking water.  I think no one should have a drink of any kind, near a computer.  And no one should have anything but water on the sales floor.
On 3rd shift, they have bottles and cans all over the place.  I'm glad to say that the guys who work in Pets are much better about leaving cans and bottles in the dept, than they used to be.

People have not been too bad about the machines at my store.  At my old store some of the associates jammed the machine with pennies.  It seems our vendors are at the store more often to make sure the machines are filled and work properly.

At my new store lounge we have the new graphics on a 7up CAN machine (new graphics on the machines in the lobbies, also...), and new graphics on the Pepsi BOTTLE machine in the lounge as well...then we have a universal CocaCola machine that sells bottles and cans (and other Coke licensed products) and a Pepsi Product (mainly Gatorade and Aquafina) machine in which the vendor fills with bottled Pepsi products if some of the spaces are empty...not a big deal at my store I guess...

All cans at our store!  Water only allowed on the sales floor, as long as it is not in plain sight!  We usually keep our water in the back unless it is extremely hot.  LS

I don't know who/why the decision was made to take out our reliable, almost always functioning water machine in the lounge and give us the crappy one that's been outside for  years.

It never works, and if you do get a water, its not cold.  i can't drink pop all day, nor do I want to.  I've been refilling my h2o bottles with the drinking fountain water, but I don't think it tastes very good.

We used to have two pepsi machines in the lounge, now we have one and it gets filled once a week by the vendor.  It's almost always empty too.  We have probably 575 associates and three pop machines.  Not good odds!

I bring iced tea or filtered water from home, most of the time.  That way, what I want is already in the fridge, in the lounge, when I take my break/lunch.
