When I came in, a 3rd shift mgr told me that they had a very late truck, and I had a lot of unworked pallets/rocket carts. As she left the store, later, she told me I would have some help me all day. I spent the next 45 minutes planning what I would have him do, and writing instructions to attach to the items' homes. That way, he could get things done, even if I wasn't right there. Two hours later, the guy strolls by, on his cell phone, and says he'll get with me "after lunch." " I was told you'd help me all day!" "I came in at 4 am." Oh. Ok, so that means he'll be here to help me for 3 hours, not 7 or 8. To make an annoying tale short, I got exactly ONE hour of help; leaving me with lots of half-done projects. Yay. Mad |

jason, did you forget that I manage Pets too? For those of you who don't know, Pets is considered a consumable dept. And, as mgmt tells us all too often, consumables run the store/pay the bills. Oh, so that's why I only have one guy, who I never see. It all makes sense now. Mad |

I should have told you all, that the next day I was given a guy to help me for several hours. He helped me work through 11 pallets, which reduced my count by 3. I was hoping for more, but it was good to go through so much stuff. The next day, my co-mgr told me that he wants me to count everything in my backroom, and then on the sales floor, so I can get my onhands right. This is basically what we call a list count; although normally that entails every item in the dept. I think we should count what we have a lot of; that would save time. Anyway, I need to talk to him about what to scan, and to point out AGAIN that I am swamped with GO items. I did get a stackbase over by L&G (too bad most of my dept, Pets, isn't there). I made a good looking display of bagged food and dog treats. The MM walked by as I was putting it together, and he spoke to me. I almost fainted. Mad |
