In case you weren't aware, year after year we have the largest and most active Black Friday message boards online where literally thousands of your fellow Black Friday shoppers chat about Black Friday starting as early as August. Discussion is getting pretty heated as we get ready for the initial stream of new ads to be posted. Here are some of the more active discussion threads that you can check out: Feel free to read these and all the other threads, and if you want to participate and post on the boards, registration for the forum is quick, easy and free. Plus, if you have a message board account, you'll also be able to create your own Black Friday shopping list here on the site!

Want to win one of our limited edition Black Friday t-shirts? Just help spread the word about your favorite Black Friday site and you could be shopping in style this year on Black Friday with one of these very popular shirts.

All you have to do is post about Black Friday @ GottaDeal.com on your favorite message board or blog. Mention that we're open for 2008, link to our predictions for this year and just let everyone know that we're the best Black Friday site (and message boards) around, without spamming of course.

We'll randomly select 5 winners from all verified entries and they'll each win their own Black Friday t-shirt. Be sure to use an e-mail address you check as we'll use that address to contact you if you are one of the lucky winners. Good luck and thanks!

When Will the Next Black Friday Ad Be Posted?

Posted by Brad on 10/3/08 @ 6:23 pm PT - Digg This

I'm sure many of you are waiting with anticipation for the next (or first if you don't include Ace Hardware) Black Friday ad to be posted. While we can't say for sure, a look at past years shows us that the steady stream of new ads might be starting very shortly if the recent trend continues, which is good news for all of us.

On our Black Friday message boards, we have a thread where we've posted the dates when we've posted most of the ads during the previous three years. Taking a look at those lists, you'll notice that aside from the early Ace Hardware ad the last 2 years, the ads typically starting coming in around the middle of October.

As for what retailers might have their ads leaked early, some that have traditionally been among the first ads released include Harbor Frieght Tools, Sears and Kmart, so we could see those anytime in the next 2 weeks or so. Once we hit mid October, the ads should start to be posted frequently, and when we hit November, expect new ads almost on a daily basis.

And as always, we rely on our loyal visitors to provide us with the ads as soon as you or someone you know has access to them. You can just click here for our ad submission form. Feel free to remain anonymous if needed, otherwise let us know who you are and we'll get back to you about your submission and get you a Black Friday @ GottaDeal.com t-shirt!

Walmart Cuts Toy Prices Ahead of Black Friday

Posted by Brad on 10/3/08 @ 6:15 pm PT - Digg This

Walmart made some news earlier this week by announcing that they have reduced prices on many of their most popular toys in an attempt to jump start sales ahead of Black Friday.

They have selected 10 popular toys and priced them at $10 each. These include the Play-Doh Ice Cream Shop, Hot Wheels Beast Bash, Fur Real Newboard Animals and Barbie Mariposa.

Walmart & Black Friday: New Year, Same Story

Posted by Brad on 10/2/08 @ 10:19 am PT - Digg This

Today we received a letter via FedEx Overnight from Walmart's legal representatives stating that the release date for the Walmart Black Friday ad this year is November 24th.

The letter states that we are not allowed to post the ad until that time. Obviously we are disappointed with this development, and a little surprised given the bad press Walmart received after doing this last year. Nevertheless, stay tuned for further updates.

Thanks Learning!  This is very interesting.
I think they should just give 20% off of everything that day.  That would be a gift to our customers.

Learning and all,

Did you read the gottadeal mb's on Walmart's sale today? (both offline and under BF forums)

Nothing like letting your associates know about a "big" sale.

Even in my store there was no advertising that I saw. And when I memtioned it to a few associates they had no clue there was going to be a "big" sale, but thanked me for a "head's up".
Wonder if they were allowed to use their discount card?

And we wonder why we don't have more sales?????????????

I watched (break & lunch) during the morning hours on Saturday as one of the hourly employees had a cut & paste session from magazine ads in the break room for a show & tell for the managers meeting concerning black Friday.  Last Black Friday I worked in the deli and wondered if my family was the only one to eat on Thanksgiving day!
