Is this happening at your stores? Our smoker's lounge will be converted into something else, and the smokers will not be allowed to smoke on the premises--not even in their cars. Although I despise the smell, I am not comfortable with keeping folks from smoking at all; unless they leave the parking lot. We'll have a lot of crabby associates. This reminds me again, to be grateful I never started! My Dad smoked 5 packs a day, so I did too, for the first 18 years of my life. My Mom smoked too, but not as much. When I came home after going away to college, I could smell the smoke and see the waves of it drifting through the air. I stopped staying there, until both of my parents quit. OOKY-POO! Mad |

My store is already a no smoking store. If anything they are outside just as often as they were back in the breakroom....if not more for some. Be interesting to see how this is enforced though. I know someone who works for Lowe's and they aren't allowed to smoke on the premises either. |

My store is a no smoking store too. As a matter of fact smoking is not allowed in public places in the county I live in. It is so nice to go out to eat and not have to walk through the smoking section to get to the non smoking section. My parents both smoked for a long time. My mom smoked the longest but she finally kicked the habit and I am very proud of her. |

our store has been a no smoking store for a while now. The room that was used is now storage. The smokers have to go outside by the employee parking where there are benches and a tent for them. |

We have been smoke free for a while. They are allowed to smoke out side but not in front.Must be at either end. The lounge has been made into an interview room. The assistants have computers and a nice file cabinate section. It is kept locked and they all have a key.It was painted and nice counters put in all down one side. |

We went smoke free this past summer. We just knocked down the walls and made our break room bigger, which was really needed. |

Get this! Last Thursday our store mgr had a Blitz planning session with the dept mgrs, and our MM showed up too. As the meeting was winding up, I asked him about the smoker's lounge. He said it was not true, at all. Turns out, it all snowballed from a comment he made to the Personnel mgr. He told her she'd better enjoy smoking in the lounge, because the newest store in our area has no smoking lounge. From that, all this other bullshit grew. Over and over, I was told that it was our MM himself that told them we were going smokeless. When I told some smokers the "good" news, they said they didn't care anyway. They said they weren't worried about it. YEAH, RIGHT! Mad |
