Used to be that employees hired before 1/1/2001 got a bonus based on years with the company.   Got 50 bucks last year--nobody is talking about whether we will get one this year.  Only affects a small part of our associates.  Anyone know?

Haven't heard anything yet.  It wouldn't surprise me to hear that we get nothing.

It affects so few of ours they are not expecting anything this year.  Anything will be a welcome addition for them.

Yes you will get it.  There was a notice about it by the time clock at my store.  We have a lot of new hires and they are  complaining they won't get it.  We used to get half on a gift card and the other half on a separate check.  A few years ago they started putting all on a paycheck in December.

Yes, it's too bad that folks have to hear about all the mini-perks us old-timers used to get.  I would feel cheated too.
Another example is the Holiday (Christmas party) that we used to have.  Ours has dwindled from a big dinner for everyone, gifts for all the kids, Santa to give out the gifts, drawings for assoc's to win gifts, and dessert contests; to semi-warm food served in big tubs and left on the tables in the breakroom all day.
Yum.

If I didn't know better Mad, I'd say we worked in the same store.

Hi Mad, it sounds like my store too.  Last year our Christmas party was in the breakroom all day for all shifts.  They did have drawings for gift items.  When they have the party away from the store they have people RSVP with how many guest they want to bring (we have to pay for extras) but when the day comes for the party many more people show up and they always let the big eaters go up first.  Last party I went to and took my husband was about 3 years ago.  By the time our table got to go up there was hardly any food left.  I was really frustrated, not so much for my self  but my husband because I paid for him to come with me and we hardly got anything to eat.   And on finding out about what associates get for being longtimers.  I found out several years ago that people that have been with Walmart since  sometime in 1990 or so get time and a half on Sunday.  I don't know when they stopped it and started giving a dollar more on Sunday but I didn't get mad about it.

Yeah, I have a buddy who gets time and a half on Sundays.  I wonder if mgmt purposely doesn't schedule her, or if the computer automatically avoids putting folks like her on the Sunday schedule?

My district don't allow the ones who make time and a half on Sundays to work them. Supposedly this is going to be company wide soon.

I worked with a lady in another store for a while and she got time and a half on Sundays.  They did not have her work on Sundays either unless it was an emergency.

I work with about 30 long-term associates tht get time and a half on Sunday, and they all are allowed to get it as they wish; matter of fact most of them have their availibility off through the week so they can work at least Sunday.  Smart cookies!

Wow Tweety!  I can't believe  they do that, and mgmt doesn't mind.  I guess it's one way to get a number of experienced folks to work on a day when lots of other folks don't want to work.

We have a handful of people who have been with our store 15 or more years.  Some work on Sunday, some choose no to do so.
However, I know the work situation for my brother-in-law who is long-term in his store they now have him pushing carts full time. He is over sixty and not in good shape.  Loks like this is one manager's way of getting rid of a liability.  Told his wife to have him talk to his co-manager, then manager if it is not resolved with the appropriate paper work from his dr.  I would hate to be Wal-Mart if he has a heart attack after his doctor has stepped up to the plate.
