Just wondering about a thing. I was told that no one can have vacation or take out personal days in november and december. Just today I did find out that one associate is having vacation for 2 weeks starting today.
Is the no vacation policy something that is company wide or just store wide and affect only certain people ?

I believe it is a company wide thing. Most folks I know from other stores say the same thing.

They say why they have the vacation?

We have had some take a vacation the same week of inventory or even Christmas. But it was cause one got married  which how did they know when they set the date when the store would inventory so no big deal really and unless your a real die hard dedicated to Wally World associate I don't think anyone is going to rearrange their wedding day for inventory and the other was a premade thing they had already bought tickets for.  It would depend on the cirucmstances on wether or not they get it.

I don't think there is a written policy about this, it is just common business practice to have your employees AT WORK during the busiest time of the year.  There have been a few people who take vacation during inventory or holiday, but the circumstances were extreme.

It is odd getting that much time off during our busy time.  Maybe they made plans for a cruise and worked it out with the store manager.  Maybe their hire date is in December and they have to use the time or loose it.

We have a dept mgr who is off until Dec 16th, due to knee surgery.  Seems kinda suspicious.  I'm sure she had the surgery, but it seems like she could have had it sooner, or later, after Christmas.  Whatev'.
Generally folks aren't given time off then, but sometimes they grant special exceptions.  There's an assoc from the Phillipines at my store, and she was gone for 2 weeks around Christmas 2 years ago.  I think it was a time when all her family would be together, so not TOO many folks get their panties in a wad.

Our store is not allowing any vacation time between Dec. 23, 2008 and Jan 5, 2009.
