My co-mgr, with whom I have had tense discussions, as well as lots of fun, had to move to West (by God!) Virginia, because his wife needs to be near her family. I know he wasn't planning to leave, until he got his own store. Today was his last day. I think it was hard for him to leave. He said good-bye after we had cake in the lounge for him, and then at some point, he left, without fanfare. I think he was sad to leave us, and I know the folks who work hard in our store respected the way he did his job.
Two days ago I told him that he was the best mgr (at any level) that I have had, in my 16 years. He said he wasn't always the easiest one to get along with, and I told him "That's not what we're here for." After some initial conflicts with him, I learned to let go of being pissed off at him, because he was fair, and never held a resentment.
