BLOOD BROTHERS

The Story of QuietEagle

Long ago, when I was thirteen, and a Boy Scout, I met a young boy of eleven years. We were both from different troops, but placed together in the same tent, and became good friends.

We spoke of meny things, and I soon learned that he was, ( as he called himself), a half-breed. His mother was of the white race, his father was a mix of Cherokee and Lakota, which I learned later when I spoke with his dad.

He had told his dad that he wished to be blood brothers with me, and I said, "sure why not." Well not knowing it, I had a talking coming to me from his father. I  was told that since his son was not a prue blood, it would not be possible. I guess I looked a bit disappointed, his dad noticed it. Needless to say, I was told that he, (the father), was pure blood, and if I wished to could be his blood brother. I am proud to show the scar that remains from the mixing of our blood. It was a grand ceremony. Many Native American were there. Most in full dress, still to this day I wish I had a camera with me.  I still honor that mixing to this day, even though I realize the blood has passed from us long ago.

That event started me on a path to learn as much as possible about Native Americans. It seemed the more I learned, the more I disliked my own race. Most have such a short vision, can not see the wonderous things around them. Still I learn.

While on a chat program called mIRC, I met and spoke to a lovely Native American woman named Phether, (mourning dove) she was from a rezeration in Washington State. I continued to learn from her. She was also the person who named me QuietEagle. When I asked her why she gave me the name, I was told that it belonged to me. From that time to this I have been known as QuietEagle.

Sometimes when I speak to people, I can sense things about them. As I now see it, I believe I show up where it seems I am needed most. After all, it is I feel, what I am here for. To help others as much as is possible.

May the Great Spirit watch over all of us.

                                   PEACE, LOVE & WISDOM
