TO DREAM ON.
O come, sweet Night,
Embrace me in the darkness of your soul.
Tender my fears and, in becalming,
Dream me illusions of a greater role.
Shield me from Day’s hellish play,
Where social insecurity drags me down.
Inspire my being with social grace,
O Night, loosen me from daylight’s frown.
Conspire to hallucinate such force,
As gives me courage all magnified.
Supercharge all efforts and endorse,
Magnificent creativity in all a hero tried.
O come, sweet Night,
Enfold me in a blankets dreamy comfort,
Soft be your influence, finely caressed.
Armour me in valiant steel and strength,
Encouraged thus and nightly dressed,
Would I outreach the harmful day’s length.
Give me safe haven, nocturnal queen,
Land me where no internal rage grows.
Steal the light, erase all day’s sheen,
Give me your darkness and sweet repose.
Draw down the lace curtain’s misty veil,
Night’s pillow to lay a weary head upon.
I am knight, requesting the Holy Grail,
The Night to sleep me on and on.
