The Secluded Cabin
In a valley you stand alone;
Surrounded by the trees that protect you;
To the left a small creek flows by;
And the wildlife you greet each day.
In all four directions that you face;
To the south a path leads to your door;
And a small window faces the east;
To greet the morning sun.
As the weather is hard to predict;
It has taken its?toll upon you;
Like the bitter north winds that blow;
Or the blistering sun shining upon you;
In summer so many pass you by;
Not even noticing your existence;
Even when autumn falls upon you;
Surrounds you with colour and beauty.
As the sun sets in the west;
And the shadows that creep before you;
Lie still in the darkness;
Silence that now gives you peace;
As seasons come and go;
You stand so strong and sturdy;
Someday someone will discover you;
But for now, you are the secluded cabin.
