bob, if you are right at 62, then, in my opinion, you should know better.
Yep, I’ll be 62 in July, and I feel I have a good handle on the political situation in the US today.
yes, neoconservatism is thinly disguised fabian socialism. what makes fabian different from marxism is in the delivery system, and yes, fabians believe in incremental change as opposed to marxist revolutions.
I understand the difference, and that’s was the bases of my statement of “As to your second observation; fascism, totalitarianism, tyranny will come to us slowly an inch at a time. Not like a water fall but more a drip here and a drip there and one day we will wake up finding ourselves being totally controlled by the central government?
however, i would submit to you that the fabians have had this republic in thrall since 1913 and pretty much all of the incrementals are in place. the g.w. bush puppet theatre has, in the last 7 plus years, all but destroyed our constitution and put the final nails into the coffin of our economy.
Here I would agree that the erosion of our constitution and the inroads of the Fabians have been going on for a very long time.
today, as we speak, this nation stands in debt so deep that we would have to sell all the superstructure and real property (including land) in the nation three times over to even begin touching the principal.
in short, we are beyond broke. and beyond broke, means beyond vulnerable.
To this is the biggest crisis we as a nation face today and could be the catalyst for that revolution we speak of if the economy does a complete collapse.
the only mitigation here is that the debt of which i speak is a contrived one. you and i owe nothing to the fed or to the u.s.a. inc., which are in defacto debt to us. but that is a story for another thread. We the people are supposedly the government, and this debt has been made in our name, we do not owe the government anything but we do owe our creditors. as long as the integrity of the media/religionist/corporate/education system of the western world is maintained in status quo, we are poised to fall at the drop of a hat.
I agree we are in precarious position.
to make this brief., i would take your revolution out of your pocket and give it a good once over. oil it up and keep it close, you may need it sooner than you think.
We are nowhere close enough to having a large enough contingency of dissatisfied citizens who would be willing to take up arms to bring about change in the government. In the 70s when people were running around yelling revolution they were wrong, at that time the white middle class American was very satisfied with their situation, today it is not possible yet because so many Americans look to the government for their security both financially and from the outside threats, real or unreal. They would be more likely to take up arms against you than their government/comforter.
back to your age, bob, remember when you were just a school kid? apply those days as an overlay to what school kids pur up with today. fascism is here bob, it is not on the way.
I don’t believe that we are in the throes of Fascism in its true meaning. We do have a very centralized government and I would agree that we have tip toed right up to the edge of the Socialism/Fascism abyss. And could easily fall over the edge, but not there yet.
Bob
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I have been having fits with MSN lately.
