Palin won't meet with 'Troopergate' investigator

Campaign says governor won't cooperate because investigation is 'tainted'

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A campaign spokesman says Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin won't speak with an investigator hired by lawmakers to look into the firing of her public safety commissioner.

McCain campaign spokesman Ed O'Callaghan told a news conference Monday that the governor, the Republican nominee for vice president, will not cooperate as long as the investigation "remains tainted." He said he doesn't know whether Palin's husband would challenge a subpoena issued to compel his cooperation.

The campaign insists the investigation has been hijacked by Democrats. It says it can prove Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan was fired because of insubordination on budget issues -- not because he refused to fire a state trooper who had divorced Palin's sister.

{ It's becoming increasingly clear that Palin has her own unique idea of what "truth" is. Whether it's cutting taxes or selling the Governors airliner on ebay her statement are always full of half truths and the stretching of the truth. Now she refuses to co-operate with investigators in the so called "Troopergate" scandal because "the investigation has been hijacked by Democrats".

How convenient! Her next excuse will probably be "the Democrats made me do it!"

The "vetting" process for a Vice President is supposed to find any problems in a candidates history so it doesn't come back to bite the Presidential candidate later. Has anyone even heard of a Veep being picked who at the time was under investigation for misuse of power? What were they thinking? Were they thinking at all? Did they believe the investigation would just dissolve into the air after Palin was picked by McCain?

This investigation is not going to go away. Palin is going to have to face the music sooner or later. This "brilliant" choice of the McCain camp just gets worse and worse everyday. Ms Palin can run.......but she can't hide.}
