the libertarian party has been coopted, invaded, intruded upon and infiltrated by every looney toon who can't quite get a square philosophic fit with either of the two major parties.

 

kind of in the same vein as macro's allusion to your unintended irony, the party has had a major flaw from the get go. that flaw lies in the fact that a true libertarian is, by definition, not a joiner.

 

so, what the party is basically a witches brew of all kinds of fringe ideology.

 

the platform is sound, at least it was the last time i went to look, but like the constitution today, not many are paying attention to it.
