I will try this again, but Kim I don't think your site likes me to post!!
I wanted to tell everyone that there is hope with ADHD kids. We finally let them put Max on Ritalin. He was in spec ed, down to half day and at that being sent home sometimes after an hour! I was at my wits end! They were threatening expulsion! In the 5th grade!
Well, the friday before my birthday (7 weeks after starting meds), I got the greatest birthday present ever! My son, the hard case, made the honor roll all A's and a B+!
Soon after starting meds he came home and said to me "Mom, I never realized before how much fun school work could be, I love Math and reading is so cool!"
This child who had to be dragged out of bed and forced to school now refises to miss school even when he's barfing with a temp of 102! We let him stay home the last day of his sisters visit and not 15 minutes after the bus left he was begging for a ride to school! And this child is his sisters little shadow ususally!
He doesn't take it at home though it is prescribed because he falls asleep so we are working on the home behavior other ways. He also has something to do with obedience disorder or something, I forgot.
But I just wanted to reassure you all that, even tho I was a diehard and researched everything to death, Ritalin does help!
And thank you Kim for all your advice and understanding! I love ya, Sis!
Oh, by the way, My Bumper sticker says "My Child is an Honor Student at Mohave Valley Elementary School" Guess I'll have to ditch the one that says "My child beat your Honor Student up at...."
