What I thought was going to be a great horsey day yesterday, with high of +3
Well at 7:30 AM, Zoey was whining at the door
Photobucket
this what greeted me. Called my neighbor to come help me pull quills when chores were done.
Looked outside could see Ace. He lifted up his face and it was not a black and tan muzzle. He would not come when I called . So had B get ready for school and headed out to get him. He was gone no where to be seen. So came back in told Brodie he would have to get himself to the bus I was going to go do chores then look for him. My other 2 dogs were not coming ether when I whistled or called. OH CRAP. Got chores done ( so glad that I set out hay  last night for this morning). Jumped in my jeep and B was still waiting for bus told me he could hear them barking west of us. Got 1/2 mile down the road  pulled over and little bit and slid right into the ditch. Peaka and Hannah were barking and tormenting the poor porcupine in the field. I was stuck in the ditch  so called the 2 dogs. an pulled  maybe 12 quills out of teh pair of them. But still no Ace.
Bus driver stopped and offered to pull me out. Told her don't worry, get the kids to school I will find some one.
Walked home with the 2 dogs and Ace was in the yard. Let Hannah off leash and got Ace captured.

Pulled the out from around his eye.
Then decided I needed the vet. Guess what the vet makes farm calls for dogs too LMAO. He was in surgery and I explained my ditch dilemma and said I was working to find some to pull me out.
Got my good buddy Dave to come from town and pull me out. That was fun and exciting. as my jeep slide down deeper into the ditch LOL. Finally got it and got back home and by then the vet was on his way.
Ace was such a good boy he whimpered a bit when I pulled out the ones around his eyes and in his pads.
Vet sedated him for 80 lbs, thank goodness he is such a sweet boy as he weights about 98.
We double checked to make sure that We didn't miss any tips in Hannah or Peaka. .

Poor Zoey she will be on wet dog food for a while
this is the roof of her mouth, We even pulled them out the back of her throat. She must have  bitten him to get so many in there.
She even had the tips sticking out the under side of her muzzle. You can see her tongue out the side of her mouth
Photobucket
Last night Zoey drank and ate some canned dog food. I also fed her the fat off teh pork chops. Her tongue is very swollen and sore. She is doing much better today.
Ace is back to his charmimg self again LOL.
I also wanted to add that the vet would dip the hemastat in water and teh quill would easiely fall right off. No he did not cut off any quills before pulling any out.

My goodness gracious!!!!!!
THAT was a conversation stopper!
Hi Horsewitch, It is nice to see you are still active in the horseboard community. Life got in the way with my site (Unconventional Horses) and I just use it for storage now.
I was wondering if you ever got that free parelli disc and what you think of it?
I have been doing this for several years now, and LOVE it!
Do you still have that cute dog Ashke?
I lost Jake last year. Seizures.  But I still have my sons' lab
Got a net pet, too. His name is Sully

He's quite a charactor.
I have 14 horses, now. Am trying to find good homes for about four of them.
 Princess
 Suprise
  Flag
and a gelding named Sock.
Who's picture apparently doesn't want to load.
Anyhow Hope all is well with you, Gotta run.
Bye, Fancyhorse
