Kim, I'm not that far from you, being as I'm in North West Montana, near Missoula. We have snow on the ground & the white stuff is falling as I'm typing. We feed top quality Alfalfa hay & rolled oats with molasses to our two boys & you know my Star is 22 years young & Ron's Rusty is 3 yr.old.Both are fat & fuzzy wuzzy with their winter coats on. |

Tonight i shorrid cold fo rthis old girl.I have 5 barn cats that need exrta food to keep warm and i have started adding corn iol to the there food hoping it will work the same. One of my outside dogs is a greyhound and i always worry about him,as they are a lean dog to start with. But he does have a rough coat so he is hairier then the everage GH.I do feed them eggs in the winter as well as corn oil to keep themin good weight.Scaey does a beautifully built dog house with insulation and wall to wall and floor to ceiling carpet. My poor spoiled horses get beaat pulp sweetfeed and corn oil as well as good quality grass hay and when we get out oat straw they will be getting to,to give them something to munch on as we live on an acerage |

We use, sweetfeed(regular amount) and add a scoop of beet pulp and a cup of corn oil . put all of that in a bowl or bucket and add hot water. Let it sit for about 10 or 15 minutes. Make sure the beet pulp is soaked really good or it can cause problems. Add close to a gallon of very hot water. If you use a feed that isn't sweet you can add 1/3 cup of molasses to that. Gradually add the corn oil and beet pulp not to shock their syster, gradually add more over about a two or three week period of time. |
