I learned another hard (& expensive ) lesson!

Last Sunday it came up a thunder shower here.Well I shut my computer down until it was over, only to find out  my computer would not work right.Seems as lightening must have came through the phone line & fried my modem.
I thought I had my computer protected with having a surge protector on it.I had no clue that lightening could & would run through the phone line into my modem.Well I sure do now! I finially got my computer out of the shop yesterday evening.I tell ya I was going throughg computer withdrawals  reaaly bad! LOL!
From now on, if I so much as hear thunder form a distance, I'll shut this thing down, unplug it from the electric outlet & the phone line!
"If it can go wrong, it will go wrong" or so it seems in my life.
Gosh it feels so good to be back online!
All my dear friends live inside my computer
Sincerely,Dot

well Dee, all in all I would have to say you are very lucky! Have you never heard the saying of "don't talk on the phone during an electric storm"? Well some people are fanatics about it and finally got me to quit using a phone other than cordless (not even sure if that is safe). When it finally hit home was when we were having a storm and standing in the kitchen when lightening came thru the phone knocking it off the hook and frying the phone. Its all a direct line into your home (or head if you are on the phone). I have a cable connection and if it gets struck and ruins the unit they want to charge me $500.00 so I unhook that!

Well, my daughter has always told me that I have a head full of "book sense", but not a whole lots of "common" sense. Ya know, I belive that gal has a point!
I'd blame it on having a "blonde moment", but Kim won't let me use that excuse anymore. LOL Besides, Kim says I live in a "round house". LOL I'm still not sure what she means by that.It might be she sayin' that I'm in my own "little world?"LOL!
Oh the day my modem got fried, it wasn't even really storming that bad. Raining & windy, but the thunder & lightening weren't all that close......or was it thatI just too involved in what I was doing on my computer that I did not notice??? Well, put it this way, lightening wasn't striking right outside the window, didn't hit the house..... and the winds weren't blowing hard enough to be a tornado, so with my blonde mentality figured it was  no big deal.
It was a hard & expensive lesson learned.Although I'd be willing to guess that I'm not the only person who learned this same lesson.
At least I come right out & admitted my goof up  which was not  an easy thing for me.
Oh well chalk it up to life lessons.
