        Biopolar Disorder  and Depression
_____________________________________________

Mood swings that occur are:
1. Sad
2. Incredibly Happy
3.Invincible
4.Suicidal

People with dression do not experience the highs of those with Biopolar Disorder.

People that are depressed may feel sad for a few weeks.

Between 2 to 3 million people suffer from having Biopolar .
And more than 9 million people have depression.

Biopolar Disorder and Depression can not be cured, but can be treated for with the right medications.

People withBiopolar Disorder have mood swings that alternate between periods of extreme highs (Mania) to severe lows(Depression).Out of the proportion totally are independent of everyday events and affects thoughts, feelings, physical health, behavior and normal functioning.
1. Mania (manic episode):
often begins with a pleasurable sense of heightened energy, creativity, and social ease.Without medication someone will go into a full blown manic episode.

2. Hypomania (hypomanic episode):
this is a milder form of mania with less severe symptoms and less overall impairment.

3.Depression ( major depressive episode):
this is where it takes away one`s capacity to experince plearue and causes profound sadness and irritability, changes in sleep patters,a decrease in appetite, inability to concentrate, low self-esteem,and thoughts of suicide.Severe episodes may include hallacinations or delusions.

4.Mixed Episode:
most disabling since you will experience both symptoms of mania and depression simultaneously.

I was asked one time what is Manic Depression?

My answer to them was:

Manic-depressive illness is  a Biopolar Disorder.Which this is a illness involving episodes of serious mania and drpression.
It is just another name for it.
