"Hi Jackie,
Sorry I've been remiss in my updates but, as I said last time, not much new to report these days.
We've been outside twice this week. Finally! The first day she was thoroughly wound up on the longe and was pretty wrung out by the time she settled so we didn't do any riding. Mostly she just got tense (tail up and running a bit) but nothing out of the ordinary for working in a new venue. I rode her inside yesterday (working over her topline, transitions - same old, same old) then went outside again today. More successful in the calmness department - still a bit wound but listening better and not as stressed. We finished by walking around the ring and she was looking but reasonably calm. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to get outside a few more times. The outdoor ring there is fantastic for young horses - big, square, and good footing but a little deep, which settles them quicker. I would like to do some cantering outside as that is the best thing for developing a young horse's canter.
Do you have travel plans in place for the 30th/1st? Odette has someone coming in for that stall on the 1st. I have a busy couple of days over that period so I may or may not be there depending on your timing, but obviously you can cope alone if necessary since you got her there successfully!
See you Friday,
R."
Cat moves to the new barn next Wednesday and I will be doing most of her training now. Rachel will still be working with us as she is also my new trainer now. Will keep you posted.
