Pepperoni Bread yield: 2 loaves prep time: 45 minutes oven temp 350 degrees baking time: 30 minutes
Dough:
1 cup lukewarm water
1 teaspoon salt
- package dry yeast
- tablespoons vegetable oil
- teaspoon sugar
- cups flour
Bread:
4 small sticks of pepperoni--sliced thin
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 egg yolk, beaten
Dough: Pour water into a warm bowl, add yeast and stir. After yeast is dissolved add sugar, oil and salt. Mix in flour gradually. When flour becomes stiff, flour you hands and knead it with your fingers. It should be pliable but not sticky. Add a bit more flour if necessary until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth and set in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until almost doubled in bulk. Knead down and divide dough into 2 parts.
Bread:
Roll dough in pizza fashion. Spread dough with sliced pepperoni, seasonings and cheese. Roll up jelly-roll style and place seam side down. Spread top of loaves with beaten egg yolk and bake at 350° for 30 minutes
