You are INVITED to the Light & Shadows Yule Ritual~2008

This Sabbat celebrates rebirth and renewal, and the return of longer days as the Lord of the Sun is reborn from the womb of the Goddess, when life is wrested from the realm of death and light is born of darkness. The Oak and Holly Kings battle at the solstice, and the Oak King, ruler of the waxing year, defeats His brother the Holly King. The Oak King has come to us in the present day as the New Year's baby, while the Holly King is the venerable Santa Claus. Items Needed for this ritual:

Usual items on your Ritual altar
A Green Altar Cloth,
A Cauldron w/Lid, or Cover Plate,
Holly Sprig Wreath,
Mistletoe Sprig Wreath,
12 Low Vibration Stones (flat oval river rock work well),
1 Black Votive Candle,
1 Green 12" Taper Candle,
1 White 12" Taper Candle,
1 Gold (12hr) Pillar Candle,
Pine Incense,
Bowl of Water w/ Pine Sprig in it,
Plate of Sand,
Athame,
any other Personal decorations�?

Preparation:

About an hour before, sweep area moving in a deosil manner. Yule symbols such as Poinsettias, Pine Cones, and even a decorated Yule Log nearby (if too big for altar) adds to the ambiance.

Place the proper candles and symbols at the four cardinal directions. Place the gold God pillar candle at right top of altar. Place the white Goddess taper candle at the top left.

Place your Pentacle (or a plate with a Pentagram drawn on it) in the center of the altar. Place your Cauldron to the right of the altar, with the black votive candle, Holly sprig wreath around it , inside.

Cover cauldron with lid or cover plate.

Place the green taper candle and mistletoe wreath where they will be behind you at the beginning of the ritual. Outline your circle perimeter with 11 of the low vibration stones (save 12th to close circle when you enter.

Place the rest of your tools and props according to personal preference.

Take a shower or bath for purity. Sit quietly for a period to ground and center. When ready put on some soothing music associated with the Sabbat and your ritual. Enter the standing stone circle and close with 12th stone.

I will be there - and Aurora I've often wondered - my hubbie takes his laptop to work, can you not do the same in order to participate in rituals?

my job we can't do anything but work. It is unreal.. My only break is fifteen minutes. since I only work five hours. If it were at the restaurant I worked at I could.. but not here. depressing for sure. I put in application for another job. it is 3 eight hour days weekends and holidays off I hope i get it and this one I will bring my lap top to work for sure. Once I am there after training. so pray i get that one . Would be a deputy county clerk.

I can be there, just don't know if I can stay in, we going to be having a major northeaster coming thur Friday evening.

I'll be there... don't have any pine tho... drat!

I don't have holly or mistletoe an if you say to go to town an get some your nuts! lol or a gold pillar..... can I have a white one wraped in gold? Just wondering!

Remember that substitutions are ok ...think of any evergreen incense or even a scented candle or "car Freshener" maybe......

and as for the Holly & Mistletoe wreaths..what about making a picture of one that can be cut so that it slips over your candle.

Use your imagination and enjoy making your things out of whatyou have available...pictues of Holly and mistltoe can be used to form a lovely wreath forthis purpose. Have fun with it.

So far it looks like I am going to pretty much have Sunday, Tues, Wed, and Thurs off.. When I do work I leave home about four fifteen and I get back home about ten thirty pm.

I am so sorry that I haven't been around much. I am just so down and tired. I have run myself ragged for so many years that is it catching up.
