~ In Your Element ~
Hand analysts use one or more of several systems to quickly assess an overall personality type. One of these systems is based on the four elements ?earth, fire, air and water. This quick assessment allows the analyst to draw a sketchy outline of the general personality type from which he can later build.
The easiest way to understand these element types is to picture how these elements manifest in nature. We also talk of being ‘down to earth? ‘having our feet firmly planted in the ground? ‘head in the clouds? ‘airy fairy ideas? ‘like a leaf in the wind’…?BR>
Earth types are reliable, practical, down to earth, loyal, sensible, hard working, robust and persevering but can also be boring and dull, stubborn, materialistic, ruthless and insensitive. The corresponding astrological signs are Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo.
Fire types are ardent, enthusiastic, energetic, extrovert, optimistic, forthright and magnetic, but can also be impatient, egotistical, hot tempered, domineering, showy and bossy. The corresponding astrological signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
Air types are communicative, calm, sociable, lively, interesting, chatty, intellectual and rational but can also be detached, cold, impractical, unfeeling and self opinionated. The corresponding astrological signs are Libra, Aquarius and Gemini.
Water types are sensitive, kind, sympathetic, intuitive, artistic, creative and psychic but can also be withdrawn, over emotional, addictive, impressionable, lacking in morals and standards, dreamy, destructive and emotionally vulnerable. The corresponding astrological signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.
Hand analysts use the following techniques to categorise a hand into one of the element types. It must be stressed however, that many hands will reveal a combination of two or more elements. These hands are called mixed hands and reveal a balance of several element characteristics within the personality.
How to recognise the element types
Earth Hand
The pure earth hand is solid and well built, with a square palm and short, well built fingers. The very few palmar lines will be solidly etched into the palms, giving the hand a very calm and robust appearance. Skin Texture is likely to be coarse with the skin ridges easily seen.
The Fire Hand
The pure fire hand has an oblong palm and short fingers with reasonably strongly etched lines in the palms. Unlike the earth hands, these palms are likely to contain far more lines revealing an abundance of strong nervous energy. The skin texture in fire hands can vary between medium/coarse and medium/fine
The Air Hand
The pure air hand will have a square palm with rather long fingers. The palmar lines are wiry and the whole palm will have a calm, realistic appearance. Skin texture is likely to be medium to fine.
The Water Hand
The pure water hand looks delicate and fragile, with a long oblong palm and equally long, slim fingers. The lines in the palms are finely etched and there are likely to be many of them, revealing the extreme sensitivity so typical of the water type personality. The skin texture is likely to be fine to very fine.
