Inner Divinity Spell
Color of the day: Gold Incense of the day: Marigold
Some sense of the spiritual, and of our connection to the spiritual, adds meaning and purpose to our daily lives. You don’t have to be a theist to wonder how we and everything we share Earth-space with got here. Taking that wonder into your daily life can give you a sense of creativity, awe, and responsibility. This spell is to help you connect to the mystery that is life. Go outside after dark, to a place where you are safe and where your neighbors won’t be watching. Your own backyard, or an apartment courtyard or poolside, is fine. Close your eyes and listen closely to what’s going on around you. Do you hear insects? Leaves blowing in the wind? Animals? Do you hear traffic rushing by, or sirens? See this all as a big circle, radiating out from where you live. What is your place in all of this movement?

Insight Story
Color of the day: Black Incense of the day: Patchouli
Take a walk today to gain insight into any situation that concerns you. Find a natural place away from distraction where you will feel safe and can walk for at least thirty minutes. Stand with eyes closed for a moment, holding the situation or question in your mind. Then choose a direction, open your eyes, and begin to walk. As you walk, consider the images and symbols you see in the clouds, the trees, the stones, and more. What story do they tell about your question? If one tree, stone, cloud, or body of water calls to you, take the time to pick out a few images from that object and listen to their story. Open your mind and senses to the answers that are laid out before you. All you need to do is read the story.

Invoking Jupiter
Color of the day: Topaz Incense of the day: Bay laurel
According to the ancient Roman calendar, this was the day the previous year’s wine production was served. The first wine poured was used to honor Jupiter, the greatest of their gods. Keeping this in mind, today would be a good day to seek Jupiter’s aid in achieving your goals. Light a deep blue candle and scent the room with success-attracting herbs associated with Jupiter, such as clove or nutmeg. Write one goal in blue ink on clean white paper, and visualize it coming to fruition. Decorate the corners of the paper with symbols representing Jupiter—usually lightning bolts or eagle feathers. Save the paper and review it later to see if things have started moving. Watch for any opportunities coming your way that would help you achieve your wish and follow through. When the spell has worked, leave an offering of wine or grape juice by your door.

Infinity Spell
Color of the day: Gray Incense of the day: Ivy
Today is the twenty-sixth of April. Two plus six equals eight, and eight is the number of infinity. Take time today to contemplate infinity. What does the word mean to you? The dictionary defines “infinity?as “endless or unlimited space, time, distance, quantity, etc.?What is the legacy you would like to leave to infinity? Are you living that life now? Consider the scope of your life within infinity. Even if you feel you’re a tiny blip in the vastness of it all, shouldn’t you live your path and leave your blip better than you found it? What changes do you need to make? Meditate on all the possibilities—which are also infinite—and make some positive choices for your life.

Spell to Impress Color of the day: Turquoise Incense of the day: Myrrh This spell is designed to get on the good side of a boss (or teacher). It uses a powerful tool often not discussed in the occult: metaphor. “Apple polishing?is a metaphor for currying favor with a superior. In this spell, we’ll use the metaphor to create the reality. Buy the most beautiful apple you can find. Get a bright yellow cloth. Burn cinnamon incense. Repetitive motion is very effective in spells. Rhythmic activities such as drumming, weaving, or reciting verse, all help induce a trance state and aid concentration. You’re going to polish the apple rhythmically. You might choose one word to repeat while polishing, such as “approval?or “success?or “impress.?Ground and center. Visualize how successful you are, and how much the boss approves of your work. Polish the apple while continuing this visualization. When you finish, say “So mote it be!?Give your polished apple to the boss as soon as possible. By: Deborah Lipp |
