Castle Chalandor
1506 SR 261
Starbuck, Washington 99359
509 399-2020

The unique wonders around Eastern Washington will never be seen with more excitement to visit, than with the fact that there could be an adventure vacation that includes Chalandor Castle.

Vacationers and locals, alike, will leave the modern world behind for a day or a few, while traveling back 1,400 years to a bit of medieval England, and the mystical times of King Arthur.

This medieval castle is created with the rich ancient times of an era that brings ancient lands right to the western United States, with avenues being reached and admired by passers by from land and sea.

Chalandor Castle overlooks the main waterway of the Snake River that has three ship lines passing by every other day to and from the Pacific Ocean, and our vision is to offer the cruise lines a tour of the Palouse Falls and a Champagne Dinner in the castle would be an excellent added stop for them to anchor it Lyon's Ferry State Park, where we could pick up the visitors for the intended side tour.

We plan to contact the over 300 area wineries, many that have no tasting rooms, to have regular wine tasting venues as well as promotions of the area culinary assets in Washington State.

During the Summertime, we will have regular activities that include many renaissance exhibitions in and around the pavilion such as the local SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) with different "kingdoms" coming together to show onlookers the skills of the era through things such as exhibitions of combat with swords, to the simpler activities such as wool weaving.

There will be many weavers and artisans able to book seminars and exhibitions at the castle as there will be facilities for these types of faires.

There are plans for a medieval village outside the castle to accommodate vendors and businesses that are not inside the castle.

We will have a 100 space tent campground that will have primitive outdoor facilities available for campers.

Within one mile of the castle is a marina with RV hookups and the Lyon's Ferry state park that also has camping facilities that is only 1.5 miles away which has swimming and full showering as well as a RV dump site.

There is a State Registered Labyrinth next to the castle and a meditation garden where yoga classes will be offered.

The herb gardens and Maypole will be a fun draw to many wanting to enjoy the simplicity of nature's fun and experiencing the days of old. There is also a giant checkerboard on the grounds for a little extra fun for all ages.

Inside, Chalandor offers a wide variety of services. We have a gift shop that will offer handmade local crafts and books on local history as well as many other types of desirables to commemorate a visit to the castle.

There will be a tea room with offerings of many natural herb teas and will be set up in the English style for booking in high tea reservations both individual and groups.

We have accredited ordained clergy that will be available to perform marriage ceremonies, or the wedding couple are welcome to invite their preferred minister for this activity. The Chapel can be available for weddings as well as the Great Hall and outside on the grounds. The in house clergy will also be serving as counselors, as well as hosting enriching spiritual self empowerment seminars.

Castle Chalandor offers 6 luxurious suites and guest rooms for year around Bed and Breakfast bookings. Each suite is themed and unique and will have either king, queen or combination accommodations depending on the need and the room booked.

We will have handicap-accessible rooms and have two elevators for ease of our guests. Each room has a gas fireplace for cozy evenings . Each also has elegant private baths which include garden or whirlpool tubs.

The Kitchen will offer a full Breakfast at no cost to those booked in the suites. Evening feasts will be booked by reservation for a dinner fee. Candle Light Dinners and special catering can also be booked for special occasions.

The Healing Center is a very special offering of the Castle that combines many holistic treatments such as Reiki, Yoga, Tai Chi, EFT, Reflexology, Bach Flower counseling as well as seminars on these and other types of holistic healing, with an excersize room available for the health conscious guests.

The second floor has an extensive private Library available to the guests. And as true to the theme of the castle as we like to be, we will be offering plenty of the 21st century conveniences. The Library will have computer access as well as an area to rent DVD's and videos to be watched in the Castle media room just off the library.

This room is a sound proof acoustic room so that guests in the library and other rooms will not be disturbed. Comfort is paramount in Castle Chalandor. So for late-night TV watching and music listening it is especially important to have it's own place inside the castle.
