Dedication Ritual (for Dedicants of th eFirst Degree) (I create the circle and call the quaters and goddess before letting the dedicants in the room.) <DIR> takes her Sword from the altar and traces a circle around all present here, beginning in the North. As she returns to the North, she kneels and salutes: Hail and well come, frosty Spirits of the North. Lend to us your power and protection this night, that those who are prepared may be given a true initiation, to justly wield the power of Earth. So Mote it Be! up and advances to the East. She kneels and salutes, Hail and well come, bright Spirits of the East. Lend to us your power and protection that may be given a true initiation, to justly wield the power of Air. So Mote it Be! rises and advances to the South. She kneels and salutes, Well come, fiery Spirits of the South. Lend to us your power and protection that may be given a true initiation, to justly wield the power of Fire. So Mote it Be! rises and advances to the West. She kneels and salutes, Well come, tireless Spirits of the West. Lend to us your power and protection that may be given a true initiation, to justly wield the power of Water. So Mote it Be! moves to the center of the Circle... her presence seeming to surround and encompass you. I call upon the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone; I call upon the Spirits of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water! I call upon the Hosts of the Mighty Dead! I call every true Witch within this circle to witness that we are here to consecrate as Priestess and Witch. The circle is cast, the Mists have been called forth! I want you all to envision the walls of the circle bending together overhead and flowing together under the floor to form a hemisphere of bright, misty white light. Once you see this in your mind’s eye, exclaim from the depth of your Power and Energy Source "So mote it be!" SO MOTE IT BE!! Know that each of you are witness to this sacred rite of passage. Smoothly, deeply. Follow the natural rhythm of your breath into your heart, into your center, into your feet. Feel as every inch of you tingles with the life force of your breath looks deep into the eyes of each dedicant... Before you is a dish of salt, the symbol of Mother Earth. Pick it up and hold it at arms length in front of you. Look at this salt, look at the Mother. From Her all source of power flows. From Her all wisdom flows. Place a pinch of the salt on the floor before you and then kneel down upon it. Know that you are kneeling on your own power, and your own wisdom. You may put down the dish of salt. Pick up the chalice and hold it to your heart. In the chalice the elixir of life is contained, the water which is two-thirds of the planet as well as our bodies and the wine which is the nectar from the fruit of the vine. When you drink of the water and the wine you drink of divinity. You are divine. As you sip the elixir allow yourself to commune with your own divinity and that of all life. puts her hands on the hands the dedicant that holds the chalice and guides it gently to her mouth as she sips the necter. Look at your altar. See all the symbols which rest upon it. Look at the green plant and merge your water with it. Let your water Become the plant. Let it’s power bless You. This is a very important step. Feel this expression for a moment. You may close your eyes if you wish. Now place a pinch of salt in your chalice-just a pinch!- Feel the Power of Self Creation. You are the Divine Ocean, Creator of Yourself. You are One with Mystery of Life. lights sage bundle and walks around the cirlce (asks the dedicant to light her sage as well) watches as the smudge surrounds the room and the dedicant. "Now we awaken the mind with our sense of smell. Our sense of smell causes many reactions within us. We are either repulsed or tantalized. The mind immediately awakens and processes the smell, and then acts upon it by prompting an emotion into being. " Take the matches in front of you and light the two candles. As you do so become aware of the increase in light around you and your altar. With the salt we acknowledged the element of Earth. With the wine and water we acknowledged the element of Water. With the incense we acknowledged the element of Air, and with the flame we acknowledged the element of Fire. We now have the powers of the four directions surrounding us, and are ready to begin the ceremony. looks lovingly at the special people within the sacred circle I now call forth the Dedicant known as Mystical Moonchild... "I ask you , my dear, Do you want this for your life path?" (wait for reply) "Do you know that I now speak as Goddess.?" (wait for reply) "I now call forth the Dedicant known as Katseye..." "I ask you , dear One, Do you want this for your life path?" "Do you know that I now speak as Goddess." (wait for reply) I now speak to you so listen carefully... Close your eyes and breathe within for a moment to gather your center...count to three then open your eyes and we will continue... (wait to the count of three) Know that you are in a space that is made sacred by your essence. Now is the time of Your Divinity. Listen to the melodies dance around your head and heart. With the first two fingers of your right hand, dip them into your chalice and touch them to your forehead. (pause) Of the Earth you are made. She is your Mother. Address now that connection by saying, "I ask your blessing, Mother..I am here .... I am your child." (Dedicant Repeat) (wait for reply) The third eye is the doorway into the realm of Spirit. You have just acknowledged your own Spirit and the place where your life-spark flows in the physical Body. Breathe in this truth. Dip you fingers again and touch them to your eyes and say, " Bless my eyes to see your ways." (Dedicants Repeat) </DIR> (wait for reply) <DIR> You now look at your life path and see if it is life-oriented or not. You are ready now to receive your vision and to see the truth in all situations. No longer will you be blind to your Spirit; to your Essence. Look in truth, and see the path before you. Again dip your fingers, and touch them to your nose. Now say, "Bless my nose that I may smell your essence." (Dedicants Repeat) (wait for reply) Mind is stimulated by scent and scent in turn stimulates the inner mind. We must learn to smell out a situation, and know that our smelling is alert. Smell the fragrance of nature......Of Earth, .....of life and let the scent reawaken your psychic mind. Dip your fingers in the chalice and anoint your lips and say, "Bless my lips to speak of You". (Dedicants Repeat) (wait for reply) All reality begins with thought. It is the mouth which sends forth the vibration of the thought to be manifested in the physical. The word is powerful. Sound is constant and vibration never stops. We bless our mouth so that we might think before we speak. We have a real responsibility in speaking only truth, and sending forth the vibration of the positive. Remember that it is the word that transforms. We touch the mind with words. We influence each other with words. Words become ritual, they are magic. Words transform. If you speak in a positive manner about yourself, then you are creating a positive force field around you which becomes a support system. In turn your positive word touches the minds of others and helps them to begin perceiving first, and then speaking about the attributes of humanity. Now dip your fingers in the chalice and touch your heart. Focus on your heart for a moment for it is a source of strength and beauty. From your heart comes love, a nourishment to life. Now say, "Bless my heart formed in strength and beauty." (Dedicants Repeat) (wait for reply) To be strong is to be beautiful. You are being strong by taking responsibility for yourself. In taking responsibility for yourself, you become beautiful because you are allowing your true essence to grow powerful and shine. Dip your fingers in the chalice and touch your center below the naval and say, "Bless my womb that contains the essence of life". (Dedicants Repeat) (wait for reply) This is the place of mystery. This is the portal in your body from where life begins. Rejoice in this source of life. Rejoice in the connection with the creative energies of the universe. Know that you can always return to your center to reconnect and balance yourself. Now dip your fingers in the chalice and touch your feet, saying, "Bless my feet to walk the Goddess Path." (Dedicants Repeat) . (wait for reply) You have just accepted your divine power. You know that you think first and your feet will follow. You know that you think first and the word creates. So now is the time to be conscious of Your Path. You must use all your awareness to journey down the Path of Truth and Life. You are not powerless. Walking Your Path is an act of Power. Close your eyes, now, and allow this experience to become fully integrated within your heart, within your mind, within your power center. Think about the way you have been living your life. Thank yourself for having the courage to perform this self-blessing. You are surrounded by Spirit Keepers, who will help you on your path. all realms are present here and witness your oath Rise to your feet. (stand ) Stand balanced and strong. Hear the heartbeat and the drumming of the distant music... Listen (Pause and move, sway to music) Feel the blending of knowledge, experience and the wisdom within you. When you are ready, in your own words...Thank the Spirit Keepers. Thank Mother Earth. Thank the Goddess that You are. Katseye8 : Thankyou Spririt Keepers for keeping me on my path and being here for this special occasion. Thankyou Mother Earth for giving and recieving me and all that is yours. Thankyou Goddess for Being Me... Boudica111 : Spirits of the East, South, West, and North I thank you for your presence here this night and the gifts you bring. Great Mother Earth I thank thee for your blessings this night and the power you bring. I than the Goddess for being here and within me smiles and stands tall Now, turn to the Center and prepare to make your dedication. Consider these questions carefully! ... Then answer as you feel led... Do you seek to understand yourself better? (wait for reply) Do you seek to live in harmony with yourself and with all of the Mother's Creation? (wait for reply) I do not pretend to offer you the answers. We all seek them ourselves. I ask these questions to point out that they are extremely important in this walk. Do you seek power? If you seek power, what do you seek it for? (wait for reply) What do you wish to accomplish with it? (wait for reply) A Sioux Medicine Man once said that power is "the enlightenment needed to properly understand a given thing or teaching. Also the physical and spiritual energy to perform what is required - whether that be common or extra-ordinary." The power we seek is the power to meet our responsibilities as Daughters of the Goddess. Do you understand that being dedicated in this rite will change your life forever, in ways that you cannot now foresee? (wait for reply) Knowing these things, do you want to study Witchcraft and its related arts until you know enough to decide whether this is truly your Path? (wait for reply) Do you understand that Witchcraft is one of many means to serve the Old Deities and awaken the Old Ways, and that even if this is not your way after all, you may learn and grow while you are here? Can you accept that the decision may be no? (wait for reply) Teaching what I love is a great joy... But I can only teach in joy if I know that what I love will be used and shared with care and honor. Before I am willing to teach you, there are three things and a fourth that you must promise to me: Will you respect and protect the confidence of all who you meet in the Circle and all who seek our aid, revealing their identities to no one except by their explicit permission? (wait for reply) Will you practice and teach the Craft for love alone, using this knowledge or teaching it as a gift, as I give it now to you? (wait for reply) Will you promise never to use what I teach you to affect another person, avoiding not only baneful magic but all well-intentioned meddling, unless you have that person's explicit permission? (wait for reply) And if time brings fullness, as all here hope and expect it will, when you teach new students of your own, will you require these three pledges of them, along with their pledge to similarly bind their own students, so that all that spring from this line may be so pledged? (wait for reply) This being so, I consent to teach you. This is how I value my labor - that I will plant only good seed in good soil, to become fruit both sound and sweet. I will teach you, I will learn from you, I will learn with you. So we begin by exchanging our pledges.
