Since wine was, and is, such a sacred fluid, the Pagans of old naturally named this Lunar month the Wine Moon. As you celebrate the night of the Full Wine Moon and dance the magickal round in the moonlit Circle, pour some white wine in a silver cup. Before the rite is ended, if possible, catch Her reflection in the liquid, then take a sip. As the Moon-blessed wine casts its inner glow, sit quietly and feel your own spirit, of which the wine is a symbol. As the body is stilled and the spirit soars, feel on this night of magick a sence of the kind of transformation that takes place during true spiritual initiation.
Today the term Harvest Moon is applied to the Full Moon nearest to the Autumnal Equinox. This is because, it is said, in other times when harvesting was done by hand, as the days grew shorter farmers were able
to work into the night in the brightness of Her light.

Old Sayings & Lore
If a member of the family dies at the time of the New Moon, three deaths will follow.
The Fenland country of England is an odd place that has kept its superstitions longer than other areas. They say that if public dinners are not held at Full
Moon, tragedy will follow. Since Fenland roads are built high above the marshy and and bordered on both sides by deep ditches, one can see why this is more sense than superstition.
Many cultures felt it was highly unlucky to point at the Moon, and that curtseys to the Moon would bring a present before the next change of Moon.
Originally the term Moon-struck or Moon-touched meant chosen by the Goddess.
These people were considered to be blessed.
Nowadays, a "Moon-calf" means someone who is absent-minded or not very bright.
At one time, it described a person who was so carried away by love of the
Goddess that he/she was nearly oblivious to the world around them.
It was often said that if a person was born at a Full Moon, he or she would have a lucky life.
