POP QUIZ # ONE
Journal Review..I would like you to go through your journal that you started when you dedicated to your first degree year. See where you were then and where you are now. I would like you to talk about the differences you see in your life.
I have not been faithful to my journal for a while but for the last month I have been writing daily. I have noticed from my writing that I have learned a lot in the past few months that I hadn’t seen in myself in years. I have been able to identify that being sick is something you do not dwell on. If someone asks how you are don’t always talk about your illness because it just makes the problem worse, because it has something to feed on. If you talk positive and talk about the good things going on with you life and health, you are not giving your body a reason to feed on the pain you are having. I have been able to do this and it is working very well. I am off full time pain medication and only take pain med Once in awhile. I feel better about myself as a whole now. I have also learned to be careful with my words. Words are very powerful tools and you can harm people when you really don’t mean too. I learned a lot about shielding from the talk we had and also by Penczak’s book The Witch’s Shield. I have learned that journaling is very important to your inner and outer self. I have made a cometment to journal 3 pages everyday no matter what I have to say or don’t have to say. So far I have been able to keep up with my writing. This is something I need to do.So I make sure it is done.
I also see that I need to be a witch everyday not just once in a while. Although I practiced for many years I still didn’t do it all the time. It seemed there was so much going on in life that I didn’t have time. My views have changed. Now Wicca s my way of life and I do it everyday. I live the life of a witch.
Sabbat Review...You have journaled several sabbats since your dedication. Tell me what you have learned about each sabbat since that date. When you hear the Sabbat name being spoken, can you speak with authority about that celebration? What you do, what it represents and what part of the Wheel it represents?
So you would like to learn about the Sabbats? Let me start by telling you about Beltane. Beltane is a time of fertility it is a time when the seeds are starting to sprout, and rebirth is in the air. It is the time when the horned God takes back his rule and flourishes, because this is the light half of the year. Beltane is a time for inner searching, love and harmony. Beltane is often referred to as May Day. The may pole is a sign of fertility. It resembles the phallic symbol thus the reference to fertility. There is a god and a goddess that represent this Sabbat. The God is the Green man ( there are many different Gods/ goddesses but I am telling of the ones I use.) The Goddess that I called upon is Brigid.
I made a wand for Beltane because of the resemblance to the phallic properties. This is the beginning of the year when the God marries the goddess and becomes fruitful.
Midsummer
Another name for Midsummer is Litha. Midsummer is the longest day of the year. There are many Gods/ Goddesses for midsummer the ones I choose to use is Freya for the Goddess and Lugh as the God. This is the time of great importance for it is the time that are mother Earth is heavy with pregnancy. We can not forget that the Sun Gods is very important also and he is at his peak at this time. We will soon be celebrating his fatherhood. This is also a time when we can start harvesting are herbs. Don’t forget to ask for permission to the plant spirits to harvest your plants and always leave a small token.
I always have a great time with this Sabbat because it is a great time to work with the faeries. Bonfires and Balefires are common on this sabbat.
Lammas is the next Sabbat that we celebrate. It is the Last of the harvest festivals. Fruit and grain is ready to be harvested. Corn is the symbol of Lammas. The days will be getting shorter as the up coming winter comes. Demeter I call apon for this Sabbat although there is others (do as you feel right) and the Gods I call apon are Lugh and Odin. This is a time to be fruitful so develop some of those ideas that you have in your head.
Esbat Review....This is , again, a very important part of our path...following the moon phases. I want you to tell me about each phase and let me know what each is called and what you do during each phase if you were performing spellcraft . (Remember, there are five phases of the moon...name them and what you would do during that phase.) If you have not started a "MOON DIARY", start one now.
The New moon- If you want to work magick in the new moon you would do magick for new beginnings or a new adventure also you could work love magick and money magick. Always remember harm none.
Full Moon- You can work healing magick in the full moon. You can also work money magick. It is also a good time to work on dream magick.
Waxing Moon- During the waxing moon you can work magick for luck or health. If you need to you can work magick to help you gain confidence in a area that you need it.
Waning Moon- This moon is used for doing banishing work. This could be done to banish an illness you might have.
Dark Moon- So say that this is a time that witches should do no magick but if you need to you can do banishing work as long as you hurt no one.
Name the Goddess aspect for each phase of the moon.
What does "waning" mean?- Waning is the second part of the moon cycle from the full moon to the new moon.
What does "waxing" mean?- Waxing is the first part of the moon cycle from the new moon to the full moon.
Why do we look to the moon?- We look to the moon to know what is a good time to do spells and rituals. The moon can be used to charge you magickal tools and crystals.
Why do we look to the Goddess during an esbat? The moon represents the female (goddess) aspect as the sun represents the Male
Wiccan Rede Review...We just recently had a class on the Wiccan Rede. What part of this rede speaks most to you and why. I think what most speaks to me about the Rede is that we need to respect the earth. We may do magick but make sure that we harm none while doing so.
What tree is the "Lady's Tree"? The Lady’s Tree is the Elder.
What is the "Threefold Law"? The three fold law is the law of return. What you end out will come back to you times three.
