The Wiccan Rede

Bide the Wiccan Law ye must, in perfect love and perfect trust.
Live and let live; fairly take and fairly give.
Cast the Circle thrice about to keep all evil spirits out.
To bind the spell every time, let the spell be spake in rhyme.
Soft of eye and light of touch; speak little and listen much.
Deosil go by the waxing Moon; sing and dance the Witches' Rune.
Widdershins go when the Moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.
When the Lady's Moon is new, kiss thy hand to Her times two.
When the Moon rides at Her peak, then your heart's desire speak.
Heed the Northwind's mighty gale; lock the door and drop the sail.
When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss thee on the mouth.
When the West wind blows o'er thee, departed spriits restless be.
When the wind comes from the East, expect the new and set the feast.
Nine woods in the cauldron go; burn them fast and burn them slow.
Elder be the Lady's tree; burn it not or cursed be!
When the Wheel begins a turn, let the Beltane fires burn.
When the Wheel hath turned to Yule, light the log and let Pan rule.
Heed ye flower, bush, and tree, and by the Lady Blessed Be.
Where the rippling waters flow, cast a stone and truth you'll know.
Whenever ye have a need, hearken not to other's greed.
With the fool no seasons spend lest ye be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part; bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind the Threefold Law ye should; three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow, wear the blue star on thy brow.
True in love ever be, unless thy love is false to thee.
Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An harm ye none, do what ye will!

I have learned there are alot to the words that make up the Wiccan Rede. Every line has importance just like a spell. It has instructions on when and how to live and practice Wicca. I was amazed at the information that it contained. I enjoyed it all from how to live your life fairly and honestly to when and what to do for Sabbats and what wood to burn and not burn, respect for our blessed earth and all who live there and how our words affect all that is around us and so much more.

Yes, it was very imformative, and of course those final words that sum it all up....AN harm ye none, do what ye will!

I was not present at the discussion for the Wiccan Rede so it is hard to g line but line but I can tell you what I think about it. I read this many times and it has several meanings. Mostly I feel that this has to do with our beliefs in our craft and how we should pay attention on how we do things. We should apply these to our lives ever day especially not harming anyone besides what you do to someone will come back to you three times as bad. Why would I want to hurt my self I cherish life too much besides that would be dishonoring the Goddess and the God. Basically it tells me that I should do all in Perfect Love and Perfect Trust I both my personal life and my Wiccan Life. I have The Wiccan Rede in my Grimoire Magick and I have a copy on my desk to see every day to remind me of my craft. I also have a copy sized down that I carry I my purse to look at from time to time when I am out. ~ AngelFire

WICCAN REDE

The Wiccan Rede means to me a way of life. It tells me that I have to listen to people and be careful what I say to them because words are hurtful. People sometimes take your words the wrong way so it is better to listen to the whole story before you speak and then choose your words carefully.

It also so reminds me that what ever I send out comes back times 3 so never send anything bad to people because it will come back to me three times worse. So with that in mind I realize I can so along and practice as I will as long as it hurts none. None means others as well as myself.

The Rede also tell me to honor are mother moon and to celebrate her times of month. It also tells me to enjoy the turning of the wheel and celebrate all the Sabbats.

I also learned that the sacred tree of are mother is the Elder and this tree should be treated with respect.
