Spellwork for the Cauldron Under this thread we will be sharing spells for the tools. We encourage you to write your own spells or seek out spells and share under this thread. Cauldron Spirit Many Witches pour a bit of ordinary surgical spirit [rubbing alcohol] into their cast-iron cauldrons and light it by carefully dropping in a lit match. This is often done as part of a healing rituals, invocations to the elemental spirit of Fire, scrying divinations, Sabbat fire festivals, and various working rituals. The sight of the cauldron blazing with flames can be very magickal and mesmerizing, and when the alcohol has been steeped in aromatic herbs, a sweet, but gently, incense like fragrance is produced. To make an herbal cauldron spirit: ~Put into a glass bottle a small bunch of any of all of the following: fresh lavender flowers and leaves, fresh mint leaves, fresh rosemary flowers and leaves, or fresh thyme flowers and leaves. ~Fill the bottle to the top with the alcohol; cap it tightly, and then give it a good shake. ~Keep it in a cool dry place for thirteen days, shaking it twice daily (every sunrise and every moonrise). ~Strain through a double thickness of muslin into a clear bottle, cap tightly, and store away from heat or flame. ~Cauldron spirit will keep indefinitely. Following Cauldron Spirit Instructions by StarHawk Into a metal (not clay, it'll crack) pot (a cast-iron dutch oven works well), place equal parts alcohol and Epsom salts--maybe slightly more alcohol. Be sure the cauldron is on a fire-proof surface and restrain yourself from festooning it with flammable draperies and altar clothes. Light the cauldron and let it burn COMPLETELY OUT before adding more alcohol. NEVER add alcohol to a live flame (the stream of liquid can catch fire and you may be badly burned). NEVER leave candles burning on an altar when you are not there to watch them (even those glass seven-day spell candles). Charging Storm Water Spell by Ann Moura When a powerful rain storm is heading your way, take a bowl outside and leave it where it can collect the rainwater without interference from roofs, trees, or other overhanging obstacles. You should collect the water directly from the clouds. Afterwards, bring the bowl indoors, set it on your altar, and cover it with a white cloth. At the Full Moon, remove the cloth so moonlight will touch the water. Light a silver candle, drop some mugwort into the flame, and with a feather waft smoke over the water, saying: "By thunder and lightning, By mugwort and Moon! This water is charged to work any boon!" Pour the water into clean bottles, and store in a dark area until needed to boost a spell’s power. |
