<DIR> Samhain Ritual 2007 Welcome to Light & Shadows very special Samhain Circle. As you know this is the ancient date of Samhain known for astrology alignments of 15 degrees Scorpio. This is the astrological time of our ancient heritage for celebrating the last sparks of the old and the start of the new. This night we let go of all that we do not need to start fresh as the wheel turns anew. This is a most important reason to stay completely grounded this night. We will be in the presence of many as the veil is at it's thinnest. So prepare yourself. Be alert to the special faint brushes and the glints at the corner of your eye... You are in the sweet presence of love and those that guide you from beyond the veil, within our circle. Please know that none may come into our circle that will bring discord...this is guarded against by our watchtowers. I have thrice swept clean and sanctified our Circle and you stand in perfect love and perfect trust. If there are any here that do not feel it is so, allow yourself to depart before we start. I welcome you so if you are ready please let me know by saying, "Blessed Be." Settle yourself firmly in your seat. Make yourself as comfortable as possible. Breathe in deeply and hold it for a moment. Now Exhale. Breathe in deeply again. Hold it. Exhale. Continue doing this as you WILL yourself to relax. Send the message, "Relax" to every cell of your body... allowing it to chase away any tension or stress that you may be carrying. Close your eyes now for a moment, continue breathing deeply, and allow yourself to relax completely and entirely. (pause) Now, I want you to visualize a beam of white light shooting from the heavens and penetrating the top of your head at your Crown Chakra. This beam shoots straight through your body, through all your charkas and down to the molten heart of Mother Earth. You are now connected to eternity. See this white light begin to fill your body, beginning with each chakra, washing away all negativity, tension, and stress you have within you. All the gunk that you have trapped in your energy field and body are swept away down to the heart of Mother Earth where she shall transform it into bright life energy. As the energy is returned to you, feel yourself begin to overflow with Life Energy. You begin to spill this energy out of the top of your head and down your entire body. This white light coats you entirely. This white light will keep you protected in all space and all time. The shaft of white light now returns to the stars, but you are still coated in the Protective Life Energy given to you by the Universe and Mother Earth. Breathe deeply and relax completely. (Pause) Now, visualize yourself outside, The Mourning Moon is present and shinning upon you from above on this Samhain night. It is the exact moment of the thinnest time of the veil between the worlds. We have reached the time where the beginning and the end of a year co-exist. For this period in time, we are outside of time. On this night, we celebrate the end of our harvest season as well as the beginning of new possibilities to come. We also celebrate the beginning of the cold season ahead. The season that our ancestors knew could bring death if they did not plan carefully and wisely. It is for this very reason that they honored Death on this night. This time is "no time" and the veil is thinnest between the worlds of the living and the worlds of the dead. Your eyes have adjusted to the darkness around you now and you see that we stand in a cemetery. The headstones stand in rows like regimental soldiers waiting to march. The mausoleums stand strong like fortresses. You wander slowly through this cemetery taking in the quiet around you. You notice the quietness isn’t complete for there is the sound of an owl hooting in the distance. As you continue to walk through this graveyard, you begin to notice a luminous fog begin to exude from the ground around the gravesites. You watch in awe as you see this fog begin to take human forms. You know that these are the spirits of those who have passed since last Samhain. They have risen on this night to seek their place in the Summerland. The spirits walk along a path in the graveyard in a silent procession. You follow them. You do not fear them as you know they seek only peace. Plus, you know you are protected by the Lord and Lady and no harm will come to you. The procession of souls finally reaches a clearing between two Oak trees. As they continue between these two Oak trees you see a ripple and the luminous spirits disappear one by one. You have reached the threshold of the two worlds. You have reached where the veil is thinnest. From the other side of the veil, two figures emerge, one male and one female. They are regal in their appearance but somewhat foreboding. They welcome the departed and invite them to cross over. They see you and walk toward you. The female figure says to you, "Hail mortal child of the God and Goddess. We see you have followed the Death procession to the Gates of the Summerland. We are the King and Queen of Death." She pauses to see if you would react. Your reaction causes them both to smile. "Under our protection, we invite you to cross the veil this night and see the Summerland for yourself." The King’s voice booms loudly but it does not intimidate you�?much. "Upon crossing over, you will see what many mortals do not get to see until their time has reached an end." "Again, you will be completely protected and will return to this world when your goal is completed." The Queen places her hand on your back and the King and Queen begin to lead you toward the two oak trees. You shake a bit as you get closer to the opening in the veil. "Fear not as Death is never an ending." The King and Queen say as they smile and gently push you through the veil. All goes black momentarily, but then, your vision clears and you see that you just seem to be on the other side of the oak trees. You see people gathered in the clearing and realize that these are the spirits that have just crossed over. They are being greeted by their Loved Ones that crossed over before them. There is much laughter and happiness. You see more and more spirits enter the clearing as they pass through the veil. You feel a tap on your shoulder and you turn around. There before you is one of your Loved Ones. They welcome you to the Summerland. The other spirits continue their procession through the Summerland, but your Loved Ones tells you that the two of you will remain here. It is here in this clearing just past the veil that you will celebrate Samhain, along with your coven-mates of Light & Shadows...all now have crossed over into Summerland for this night. It is here that we will honor the dearly departed. feel the silence as the breeze brushes your body. Breathe deeply now, completely relaxed on the Other Side of the Veil, as we await the beginning of our Samhain rite. Welcome to The Summerland! Know that we , together, hold hands and wait, in awe, for what is coming this Samhain eve... breathe deeply... and slowly let the breath escape Now...You are ready to experience our Samhain ritual... prepares to cast the Circle. asks that you continue to breathe deeply, for you have reached the hour when you will face the Crone and release your innermost negativity and fill it with positive light. I conjure you, O Circle of Power, that you are a boundary of Light & Shadows between the world of men and the realms of the Mighty Ones; a meeting place of love and joy and truth; a shield against all wickedness and evil; a rampart and protection that shall preserve and contain the power that we raise within. Wherefore do I bless you, and consecrate you, in the names of Cerridwen and Arawn. Once again we meet to turn the wheel. It is the festival of Samhain, the eighth and final spoke of the wheel. On this night, we perceive that the boundaries between the worlds are thin, less defined. The souls of either realm might look beyond the veil and glimpse the other side and perhaps pass through. Our Lord of the Sun has become the Lord of Shadows. The days grow shorter, the nights cooler. Divination is at its peak of performance. breathes deeply as she closes her eyes and feels the Crone come upon her o speak through her.... The Cosmos tonight provides a mirror of your soul. Reflecting the cycles of your life that you create. On this night of darkness, look to the mystery of the season to release that which has been completed. Look at and acknowledge that which has come to an ending within your own life and bid it a final farewell, even though this may bring you pain, it must be done. begins to call upon the Watchtowers. Through the darkness of this night, O Lord, return from the Summerland. Pierce our Sacred Sphere of Mists with thy vibrant presence. Flow through our midst of all within our Circle and touch us with touch the light of God within us all. Blessed Be. I call the eternal Goddess, Mother, who brings forth and nurtures life, who is also Crone - she who cuts the cord, she of wisdom and mystery. Be with us now, my Mother, my Heart, my Lady. Blessed Be. guides all within the Circle to light their two black God and Goddess candles, if they have them. says as the Dark Lady speaks through her... And as does the cycle of the Moon ever begin to wax and wane and to grow forth again, as do the seasons from one to the next flow in smooth rhythm ...so will my children know their own pattern in both worlds. So Mote It Be." On this eve of Samhain we have come to honor those that have passed beyond the veil. The Moon must decline, darken, and die. Beyond life are the realms of shadow; the journeys unknown and the visions undreamed. For the soul seeks its own level, rests, and gains a time and a place to be reborn. On this night when the dead once more walk freely among the living, we pass into darkness and do so willingly, for we know that it is simply the turning of the wheel. We give thanks to the God and the Goddess for the bounty that They have provided us over the summer. On this night, the Lord of the Hunt, the Lord of the Sun passes away from us. We realize, however, that it is simply the cycle of life, and we wait for that time when the Sun will once more be born of the moon. As your candle represents the Lord of the Sun, so does it's extinginguishing represent the passing of the Lord of the Sun. guides you to extinguish, not blow out but snuff, the God candle, and after the ritual, wrap in a protective covering and put away near your altar. This candle is not to be lit again until Yule. At this time of our New Year, we evaluate old habits, and old ways, and decide what to bring forth into our next year and what to leave behind. Spend a few moments in deep thought about what you need to leave behind. Since the Crone will be going down to the Underworld now, she will take with her whatever you give her to take. When you are ready, go and meet with the Crone, she is awaiting you. Bring with you something, which you need to banish from your life and leave it with her. She will transform what is negative into positive, which is the nature of magickal transformation. "Goddess of the stars and of the waning moon, Goddess of magic and wisdom, Lend your power to my spells and rituals and trust that they will result in no harm to any of your creatures, great or small. write as you will and give your problems and sorrow to the Lady of the night .
