Lesson 2: Negativity and shields
 
Negativity is a nasty little problem; both from ourselves and from others. It can affect others in ways we don’t expect, just as it can affect us. How can we stop it…shields of course.
 
With shielding, it does not guarantee a total stopping of the negativity coming through, not unless you totally block yourself up, and I do not recommend it at all. Been there and done that, it is not fun trying to reawaken your senses. However, shielding does make it easier to deal with it, and the beautiful thing about shielding, when your shield gets good enough, when you are in tune with it, you can thicken or thin it according to how much you want to let in.
 
Several shields block negativity, but some that you can specifically create to block negativity. Shields such as the mirror shield, which we will talk about in a later lesson.
 
As you learn different ways to shield, and as you familiarize and practice with them to find the one (or ones) that work best, you will be able to work with it to let in the emotions that you want. In addition, you will be able to keep your own emotions in check so they don’t affect others, a double mirror shield works great for this.
 
Now negativity does not just affect you, over time it can and will affect your shield without proper maintenance. It can affect your shield by weakening it, punching holes in it or even ripping and tearing. Moreover, because it does not just come from outside sources, but also from you, it raises the chances of these rips, holes and bruises.
 
I learned a hard way about shielding. My whole life negativity has affected me very badly. It has drained my energy, made me ill, even making my diabetes worse to the point that I shut myself down. I shut off my emotions and retreated to a place where nothing affected me. The bad thing about this is it shut down so I couldn’t feel nor express emotions. Sure, I went through the motions of feeling them, but I honestly could not. When I learned to shield, I was able to come out more and more. It is still uncomfortable now, but it is a lot easier to deal with than it was.
Without proper protection from negativity, it leaves us open to all sorts of nastiness, including those that prey on our minds. This can cause people to over-react, or to withdraw completely from society.
