Christmas decorating can be expensive so here are a few tips that
I have used over the years - Don't forget to get the kids to help - they will love it.
******
Cheap Christmas Cushions covers can be made by --

1. By using chrissy tea towels - fold to fit cushion, then sew up sides , leaving a slit at back to insert cushion.

2. Buy Christmas patterned materials and make covers.

3. Buy cheap red and green cotton material, cut large pieces  and "Wrap" your cushions as you would a present... tack into place. Then tie ribbons of contrasting colours on your cushions finishing off with a fancy bow... presto cushions that look like presents.
*****
Cheap Lounge Head and arm covers.

These can match your cushions by either using matching tea towels or sewing squares of the materials you are using.
*****

* Wrap boxes of any size in Christmas paper and decorate to look like Presents - these can be placed under the tree  or wherever you want to place them (which is good if your pressies don't come out till Christmas eve). Smaller shapes such as match boxes can be wrapped and placed in little baskets and/or your lovely crystal bowls or simply scattered.
*****
* Stuff a couple of Christmas pillow slips or large Christmas Stockings with crumpled newspaper on top place crissy paper or a couple of wrapped boxes - place these under or near the tree.
*****
* Bon Bons can be made by using old toilet rolls, filling with whatever you like - e.g. a home made hat, a whistle , a lolly pop - wrap in chrissy paper/ cellophane/crepe paper - leaving enough paper both ends to gather - then tie off with ribbons. If you like the "bang" the inserts can be bought at craft shops.
*****
Throughout the year save any fancy bottles that you find - then use as candle holders dripping candle wax down the sides - you can either leave like that or place stickers on.
*****
* Fancy Christmas Stockings can be tacked to the walls and used to hold your bon bons or just leave empty.
*****
I know there are lots more but I am sorry to say I can't think of them at the moment.
