Cleaning A Mirror
Dip a soft cloth in a weak solution of vinegar and water, then wipe the mirror clean. This works better than commercial spray cleaners, which can leave a film or deposit. Use coffee filters to dry the glass surfaces and mirrors after wiping. They make the surface shine but don't leave any lint behind.

Cleaning Filthy Fridge Seals And finishing off the exterior
The plastic seals of refrigerators can be wiped free of debris using a toothbrush with toothpaste. Mildly abrasive toothpaste helps to cleanse and brighten fridges without the scratching properties of most household cleansers. Apply liberally with the toothbrush and scrub until stains disappear. Then wash down with wet cloth and dry thoroughly. Failure to dry the seal properly will allow mould and mildew to grow, so finish the job by wiping the seal carefully with a dry, absorbent cloth. The sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) found in many toothpaste brands acts as a cleaning agent, which neutralizes acids. It is also an abrasive, which removes built-up dirt. The washing soda (detergent powder) is the cleaner that helps to get the food and plaque off of the teeth.

Cleaning A Toilet
Drop two effervescent tablets into the loo and leave for 20 minutes to work. Then rub with a nylon scourer and flush.

Cleaning Vases
Clean the inside of your dirty vase by filling the vase with vinegar and a handful of dry rice. Give the mixture a good shake and dispose of the dirt. The rice will collect up all the dirt and grime. Rinse immediately.

Freshening And Deodorising A Carpet
How to: For general deodorising, we advise using homemade carpet deodorizer on a monthly basis, or as needed. The carpet should be treated in the evening and left overnight. Mix the following ingredients: 1/2 cup baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) 1/2 cup cornflower 15 drops of your favourite essential oil fragrance. Work the mixture into the carpet with a stiff brush, leave and vacuum the following day. Sprinkle after you tinkle!

Homemade Duster
You can make unbeatable dust cloths at home by stirring together one cup of lemon oil with two cups of hot water. Dip lint free cloths into the potion and let them air-dry. Then store the dusters in a covered metal container until you're ready to dust. The oil picks up the dust and the lemon gives your dusting a pleasant fresh aroma.

How To Clean A Frying Pan Or Ceramic Cookware
You can find meat tenderiser in the spice section of most supermarkets. Simply put the tenderiser on a wet cloth, then rub the cloth onto the surface. This should start to remove the fat that has built up. The tenderiser works into the particles of the grease that have built up over time. After you have cleaned the desired area rinse off the pan with cold water. Then repeat the same process over the rest of the areas until clean. Please note: Meat tenderiser only works on (enamelled) cast iron exteriors, not the interior.

How To Prevent Rusty Ring Marks On Cans In The Bathroom
First clean the can with a wet cloth. Then take some clear nail-vanish, and paint around the base of the can. This will seal the metal and prevent rusting.

Removing Dog Hair From Carpet, Clothes And Upholstery
First wrap double-sided sticky tape around a roller to pick up bits from clothes. Than roll over the areas covered with hair. For bigger areas use a bigger roller!

Removing Crayon Marks
Use hairspray to remove crayon marks from walls. Do not use on wallpaper- only use on painted or gloss walls. Spray on the stain and remove with a white cloth.

Shoe Cleaning
A quick way to put a beautiful shine on your shoes is by rubbing them with a banana skin on black shoes or the pithy side of a lemon on brown shoes.
