1. To remove mildew from a shower curtain, rub baking soda on the curtain before washing in normal way. 
2. Rub lemon juice over the mildew stains, add non-iodised salt and let it dry in the sun; then wash.
3. Soak the curtain in a solution of chlorine-based bleach, Then scrub of mildew with a brush. Rinse well.
4. Bicarbonate of soda can be used to remove mildew from small areas.
 
 
BANGING PIPES -  Nothing is more annoying than banging water pipes when you turn on your washing machine or dishwasher. Now there is a simple solution, just fit a hammer arrestor to save your water pipes from costly damage. They can be easily fitted and include hose connections to dishwashers and washing machines.
 
Brighten up a porcelain bath which has yellowed, by rubbing with a solution of salt and turpentine.
 
Clean glass shower doors and screens with sponge dipped in white vinegar.
 
Clean scum from plastic shower curtains with 1/2 a cup of  household bleach diluted in 5 litres of water.
 
Cleaning Grout:
 1. Apply neat Domestos onto the grout and leave for about half an hour, then rinse off.
 2. Brighten white grout by squeezing denture cream onto a wet toothbrush and scrubbing the grout. Rinse well.
 3. To whiten grout, apply white shoe cleaner over it, then wipe off excess.
 
 

Drain Freshener - To freshen drain, pour 1/4 to 1/2 box of baking soda down the drain, add 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Cover drain tightly for a few minutes and flush with cold water

 
DRIPPING SHOWER HEADS - The solution to a dripping shower head is to replace the washer in the tap handle. A blocked shower head needs to be removed and washed out in hot water and detergent. Then use a piece of wire to clean out the holes.
 
Easy cleaning - it's easiest to clean the bathroom after a steamy bath or shower as the steam will have loosened the dirt.
 
Freshen white grout by covering it with white liquid shoe polish. Any polish that gets on the tiles can be wiped away later.
 
Prevent mildew on shower curtains by soaking them in salt water before hanging.
 
Reduce bathroom odours by placing an opened box of baking soda behind the toilet!
 
Remove hair dye stains on baths and basins with a  mixture of peroxide and cream of tartar. Make a paste and cover the stain. Allow to dry before washing off.
 

To Remove Bathtub stains:  

1. Rub over satin with a cut lemon and salt, then rinse. 
2. For bad stains, make a paste of cream of tartar and hydrogen peroxide, apply to the stain, then leave for an hour or two. Rinse off.
3. Blue/green stains caused by copper pipes can be removed by rubbing with vinegar on a damp cloth. This may have to be repeated several times to remove old stains.
