I've been trying to send an invite to join this group (to his new email address) using the managers' Invite Others to Join tool every day since this thread was posted, but the bloody invite tool is broken and doesn't work. So he'll have to put the group's URL into his browser's address window, then apply to join because unless MSN get their arse into gear and fix their stuffed-up system, then that is the only way he'll get in. |

Somebody who is in touch with him send the following link to him and ask him to click on it (or paste it into his browser's address bar) while he is logged-on to MSN groups with his new nickname.... http://groups.msn.com/OswaldsBarGrill/join |

Thank you all most kindly! I was getting withdrawal symptoms. I dont understand why I could not log in using [email protected], it must be something to do with windows live. Whenever I tried to logout then login using it, it refused to let me and I started to worry about the 3 strikes and you're out. I stll cannot access my board where all my pics are stored! I received news from Rent-a-geek today - my computer is shagged, with a possible bright spot that the hard-drive is probably OK. Motherboard and environs have crossed the great divide, apparantly. I'll get a new one built from scratch this time round and the sooner the better. I hate laptops and I hate vista! Regards all |

I managed to get into my old LB identity . The process is convoluted, and I expected to be locked out of both IDs at any time, so I made Ming an ass/man on my picture storage sites and backed out. I believe I will stay with Ming for now, as I have a new picture full storage capacity! |

Do you always use the option where your computer logs in automatically whenever you access sites such as MSN Groups? Because I see all these problems people have of being locked out of their MSN Passports when their computer packs a sad, or they change computers, yet I have never ever had any problems with actually signing in. But I have never allowed a computer to remember my passwords and log me in automatically. I always log-in manually and I do it via lots of different computers - my own two laptops, a PC that I still fire up occasionally, numerous computers at work, computers at friends' places, internet cafes; and I have never ever not been able to log-in (apart from when MSN was going mental occasionally), which tends to make me wonder if people get lazy and rely on their computer doing everything for them, then when something goes wrong with their computer, it all turns to custard. Remember too that I have created a huge number of Passports purely for storage purposes, then after uploading 3MB of files, have simply discarded them and created more. I never have any problems accessing those Passports either, although the passwords on them do become defunct if you don't log-on for many months; however that isn't a problem because I have no use for them once a particular Passport has been used to upload 3MB of files. The other thing is....do you have an alternate email address associated with your Passports? Because if you do and it all turns to custard, you can use various tools at MSN to get their system to create a new random password and email it to your alternate email address. You can then use that new random password to log-in, then change it to something you can remember easier. I've used that a couple of times when MSN's system would no longer recognise my password for some reason. |

Cheers KT. I manually log in each time. I also have logged in elsewhere in the past, but it seems that the problem has arisen since the advent of livemail. I may well be doing something wrong, of course........ |

A couple of further things. You can select to use Classic Hotmail instead of Livemail. You do that and set it up as a default when you log-in to Hotmail/Livemail. The second thing is that you can still open a Hotmail account as opposed to a Livemail account. When you go to the page to create a new email account (do it via the link on the generic http://groups.msn.com page), in the pane where you create your new account name, it will show livemail.com by default. However, that is actually part of a drop-down menu. Highlight livemail.com in the box and the drop-down menu will appear giving you the option to create a hotmail.com account instead. Whether or not livemail vs hotmail has any bearing on being able to sign into MSN Groups, I don't know, but it's worth trying. |

auto login causes lock-out: even an un-noticed comma instead of a stop in the addie can cause multiple retries (3 allowed?) and eventual lockout for at least 24 hours |
