at this!

Two Rimutaka Prison guards were treated at hospital on Tuesday night after the attack and are recovering at home.
One guard was attacked by five prisoners, who dragged him into the laundry and beat him. They then assaulted another guard who came to help.

Prisoner support groups whine about how hard done by the poor prisoners are.  They moan about the lack of entertainment facilities, they whinge about monotonous food - the list is endless.

When these bastards burn down a prison wing [our property] they get rehoused in comfort instead of being given a tent.  When they assault staff because they object to their knives and drugs being taken off them, they get a slap on the hand.... there are endless other examples of molly-coddling with which  I wont bore you all.

I want prison to be a place that these wastes of space fear to return to.
I want our elderly better looked after than these pieces of shit instead of the other way round.
I want Joe Arpeggio style chain gangs picking up trash on the side of the road.
I want cattle-prods used on those who stop working.
I want them to stop getting better food than I can afford.

There is something very wrong when someone commits a crime in order to go back to prison because prison is warmer than home and the food is better.

The thought occurs that if prisoners are going to act like badly behaved toddlers they should be able to be treated as such.

Sadly though, to achieve that, Ming, we must unsign ourselves from the Human Rights Act.  I do think thats the tool that stands in the way.

According to a surgeon who spent many years in Singapore and only moved back last month, their system works VERY well.  Hardly any recidivist crime.

They get 2 sheets and 2 shorts, undies and tshirts.  That's it.  They don't even get a mattress.  No heating - though I assume in Singapore that isn't really a major issue.  They serve the full sentence and if, after all that the re-offend, they don't get out period.

The recidivist crime is down in the single digit percentile and I tend to think the ones who go back should probably be in the mental health system anyway.

What about the rights of the victims of these sacks of shit?
What gave them the right to destroy my/our property?
Why is it that they have "rights" but our elderly and defenceless dont?

I wholly agree with you, Ming.
However thats not what the issue is.
IYO the issue is, prisons should be scary, with less 'priveldges', the food should be second rate and less.

The issue of the victims is a whole different issue.  One that isnt being addressed as much as the issue of 'sensible sentencing' and 'sensible jails' isnt being addressed.

Karey, the prision in Singapore will really sort out kiwis who keep braking the law that is for shore.  They take no crap at all.
People who have done what ming has stated here need more time put on there sentence and alot more besides.  Once you are in prision it seem to us on the outside they if you hurt someone or something nothing really seems to happen.

With all the civil lib do gooders, victims no longer have rights.  Crims have all the rights.  New Zealand is soft.

I like the idea over in the States of the tent city with pink towels.  These bastards don't deserve rights as they didn't allow their victims to have any!

Sister whining about cold inmate.

You know? I couldnt give a rats arse about an inmate that feels a bit chilly.
Dont want to feel the cold in prison? - dont commit any fcuking crimes

I'm far more concerned about the Chrischurch pensioners who reportedly have to stay in bed all day because they cant afford to heat their dwellings.

This one takes it a bit further despite the fact that cold temperatures do not cause pneumonia, cold just helps it develop if it is present.

Ok it is warmer here in the north but many households here don't even own a heater and those that do don't always plug it in even went the temps are heading down towards zero.

I actually dont care.  As far as I'm concerned, he placed himself in the situation.
She is quoted as saying he was in prison for monor offences; to start with, its difficult enough to get someone banged up for serious offences like assault - minor offences dont get a look in unless the scrote is refusing to carry out alternative community based sentences.

As I said above, if you think you may get cold in prison. dont put yourself there!  Simple really..........

There grades of prison:

1- Short, sharp shock. Don't do it again.

2- 2-5 years of unpleasant hard labour. Last chance, stupid.

3- You ain't ever getting out of here. Be glad we don't have hanging.

I agree about pensioners.  This is where I rant.....

My dad served in Korea, another war New Zealand shouldn't have been involved in.  Dad is on the war pension - which pays a damn sight better than the standard pension.  But he has multiple health complications resulting from the war and a huge sum of money is spent on his Dr and medication.

Dad caught the flu the other week and I was too sick to travel down to Kapiti to see him.  I got my brother to drive from Taranaki to check on him.  My dad was sitting there, no heater on - freezing his arse off.  My brother said dad was like an icebox to touch.

Other than minor driving offenses, my dad has never broken the law - but it's ok if him and others like him are allowed to freeze.  But it's not ok for some crim to not have toasty warm footsies?  How pathetic is our system?
