Paper Dolls
7/11/2004
by Karen Danyel

I found a picture book today
with lots of pretty brides
They all had dresses with long veils
and everything was white
They carried lots of flowers
with ribbons hanging down
so I went to mommies room
and got her sissors down
I cut the brides out of the book
they were so fine to see
we played up in my room for hours
My paper dolls and me
I fixed them tea, in my finest cups
as they showed thier pretty gowns
We played until my naptime came
and then we all laid down.

My Sailing Trip
7/13/2004
by Karen Danyel

Once upon a time, in a little shady nook
I gathered up my family, my dollies and a book

we all got in the car, then we drove along the trail
to find a river wide enough to set our boat to sail

I dressed up all my dollies in thier bathing suits for fun
and sat them on the seat by me, like they were all just one.

The water was so blue and it was cool, and there was shade
I set my dollies down to tea, (since it had just been made)

we drank our tea and went to swing, my book layed on the ground
We went to sail, and we had fun, with cookies all around

I found my book and picked it up, the wind had read it through
I always bring a book along, the wind needs something too.

So now we will go home again, and come back another day
The birds are making chirping sounds, Good-bye you all, I wave.

Ear Corn Dollies
7/10/2004
by karen danyel

The Girl Child goes out one early morn
to find a dolly among the corn
She's looking for just one special one
with pretty long hair, the color blonde
It must be silky and able to wave
and swish back and forth on a windy day
the body must be so long and slim
that the beauty will make the boys all grin
She must be romantic and shy
or her boy dolls won't like her. Here is why
'Cause she has other dolls around

with pudgy bodys and hair of brown
The boy dolls think that is ugly and crude
and make fun of them, and act so rude.
She wishes her body was long and slim
and her hair as blonde as the morning sun
So her wish is for her dolls of corn
to be her, in turn, if she were reborne
