WWE RESULTS FOR NO WAY OUT -2-19-06 At No Way Out, Helms had eight opponents for his championship, but still managed to walk away with the gold. The rules of the match dictated that the first man to score a pinfall or submission would walk out as Cruiserweight Champion, and the action was fast and furious as all nine competitors in the match went at it tooth and nail. Early in the bout, Helms tried to hide outside of the ring, but was eventually brought into the squared circle and beat down by all of his opponents. As the match neared conclusion, all eight opponents had a shot to pin the champion, but someone else was there to break up the pinfall. After taking Sliced Bread #2 from Brian Kendrick a senton bomb from Paul London and The Worm from Scotty 2 Hotty, Helms was saved when Kid Kash broke up Psicosis?pinfall attempt. Kash went on to hit Dead Level on Psicosis, but Super Crazy broke up the pinfall with a top-rope moonsault. With all three of those men down on the mat, a recovered Helms snuck in and pinned Psicosis to retain the championship. JBL took control of the match by sending Lashley to the steel stairs, and tried to wear down his opponent with a sleeperhold. Finally, Lashley caught JBL coming off the top rope, powerslamming the self-proclaimed Wrestling God to regain the advantage. WWE Tag Team Champions MNM in a Non-Title Match February 19, 2006 At No Way Out, Matt Hardy took MNM’s open challenge, and with Tatanka as his mystery partner, defeated the WWE Tag Team Champions in a non-title match. Tatanka & Hardy took it to MNM early, as the unknown quantity seemed to catch the champions off guard. MNM was able to regroup, and kept Hardy in their half of the ring for most of the match. Hardy escaped, making the tag to Tatanka, who hammered the champions with a series of chops. He then sent Mercury to the floor, but Melina’s interference allowed Nitro to hit a dropkick off the apron, giving MNM the advantage once more. MNM then did their best to keep Tatanka away from his partner, but the Native American warrior was able to catch Nitro with a clothesline and tag in Hardy. Once Hardy returned, he & Tatanka cleaned house. Hardy went for the Twist of Fate on Mercury, but walked into a superkick from Nitro. Regardless, Hardy was able to tag Tatanka once more, who nailed MNM with a double tomahawk chop from the top rope. Booker T to win the United States Championship February 19, 2006 At No Way Out, Chris Benoit finally got his ultimate revenge on Booker T, defeating Booker with the Crippler Crossface to regain the United States Championship. Before the match was set to begin, Booker announced that he was going to forfeit the United States Championship. It was a ploy, however, as when Benoit turned his back on Booker to stalk Sharmell, the champion attacked and the match began. Benoit dominated early in the bout, keeping Booker at bay with a series of suplexes. Benoit then knocked Booker to the floor, where the champion was sent crashing into the steel ring steps. Booker told referee Charles Robinson that his groin was re-injured, and as Robinson backed Benoit up, Booker revealed he was playing possum again, attacking Benoit and sending him crashing into the stairs. Booker then tried to wear down the Rabid Wolverine, but Benoit escaped with a series of German suplexes. The two men went back and forth, with Benoit hitting the Three Amigos in tribute to Eddie Guerrero. Booker eventually regained control, but missed an attempt at the Houston Hangover to put both men down. Benoit then hit a series of German suplexes, prompting Sharmell to jump on the apron. As Benoit went for a diving headbutt, Sharmell’s distraction allowed Booker to catch Benoit and send him crashing to the mat. Booker then hit the Scissors Kick, but the Rabid Wolverine kicked out before the three count. With Sharmell on the apron once again, Benoit countered a rollup into an attempt at the Sharpshooter, but Booker pushed him away. As he did, Benoit fell into the ropes where Sharmell was standing, knocking her off the apron. Benoit then ducked a Scissors Kick, and applied the Sharpshooter after taking the champion down. Booker fought the hold, so Benoit released and applied the Crippler Crossface instead. That proved to be the equalizer, as Booker tapped out almost immediately, giving Benoit the gold once again. Rey Mysterio to win Rey's World Championship Match at WrestleMania 22 February 19, 2006 At the Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio last eliminated Randy Orton to win the Royal Rumble Match and an opportunity to face the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 22. Three weeks later, Orton got the last laugh on Mysterio, defeating him at No Way Out to win Rey’s WrestleMania main event. Mysterio managed to send Orton to the floor, but as Rey tried the West Coast Pop, the Legend Killer caught him and slammed him into the ringpost, injuring Rey’s hand. Orton then focused his attack on Mysterio’s arm and hand. At one point, Rey managed a hurricanrana, but landed on the injured hand and was unable to capitalize. World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle def. Undertaker February 19, 2006 For over 30 minutes, Undertaker & Kurt Angle threw everything they had at one another in an attempt to win the World Heavyweight Championship. In the end, it was the Olympic Gold Medalist who pinned the Deadman to retain the gold. Early in the match, the Deadman maintained control by working on Angle’s left arm and shoulder. After Undertaker went Old School and hit Snake Eyes, however, Angle managed to escape his grasp by hitting a release German suplex. Angle then sent the Deadman crashing into the retaining barrier outside the ring. Undaunted, the Deadman fought back, running Angle into the ringpost and hitting a vicious legdrop as Angle lay prone across the ring apron. Undertaker went for a chokeslam, but Angle kicked the Deadman’s leg out from under him to escape. The champion then went to work on the challenger’s leg, setting him up for the Ankle Lock. After managing to send Angle to the floor, Undertaker went for the apron legdrop again, but it was reversed by Angle into the Ankle Lock. Angle released the hold and rolled into the ring to break the count, but went right back to the floor and applied the move again. Once back inside, Angle went for another Ankle Lock, but Undertaker countered into a Triangle Choke. Angle was then sent to the floor, and the Deadman sent the champion crashing into the timekeeper’s table. He then ripped apart the SmackDown announcers?table, preparing to send Angle through it; instead, Angle would end up sending the challenger crashing through the Spanish announcers?table courtesy of an Angle Slam. It appeared as if Angle would win by countout, but he brought the challenger back into the ring to finish him off. Angle managed to hit a superplex, but the Deadman found a way to come back and set the champion up for a chokeslam. Instead, Angle rolled through, applying the Ankle Lock once again. The Deadman reversed it into a Triangle Choke once more, but the prepared Angle rolled through it, back into the Ankle Lock. After Undertaker escaped, he hit the champion with a chokeslam for a near fall. Undertaker then set Angle up for the Last Ride, but Angle rolled through it, locking in the Ankle Lock once more. When Undertaker powered out again, Angle nailed him with an Angle Slam, but the Deadman escaped the pinfall attempt. Undertaker then sat up as Angle pulled down the straps, and they slugged it out. The challenger set up for the Tombstone, but after each man reversed the attempt, Angle applied the Ankle Lock for the sixth time in the match. After Undertaker escaped once more, the champion went back to the Angle Slam, but his pinfall attempt was countered into another Triangle Choke. As Angle lay in the Triangle Choke, referee Nick Patrick checked for a submission. Angle was barely able to keep his arm up on the third try, and with one more burst of energy, Angle shifted his weight and rolled the Deadman over into a jackknife style pinfall. With the challenger still holding the Triangle Choke, Angle was able to hold Undertaker’s shoulders down, and Patrick made the three count. After a moment of confusion over who had actually won the match, Angle was announced as the winner and still World Heavyweight Champion. After the match, Undertaker helped Angle up, but backed the champion into the corner. After a brief staredown, the Deadman told Angle that he had his number and wasn’t finished with the World Heavyweight Champion yet. A groggy Angle then stared at the angry challenger as the show came to a close. Former World Heavyweight Champion Batista made a shocking appearance at No Way Out. After a long standing ovation, The Animal told the sold-out crowd that his triceps was healed and that he wanted his World Heavyweight Championship back.
