In fact about the only meaningful legislation Bush has ever gotten through Congress were changes to private bankrupcy.

It is no longer as easy to go broke, unless you;re a business.

It's going to be a lot easier to go broke in the next couple of years. I'm thinking about laying myself off since I see no bailout for the construction industry on the horizon!

D2,

LOL, I did.  The next four years or more we will all want to minimize all commercial activity in this country.  I am considering a part time job as an employee if my foreign ventures don't need my attention.  Otherwise, I will go back to school and get another degree.

Curm,

Better yet I'm thinking about going to work for the government. There will be plenty of jobs available from them once the socialists take power! My wife works for the local VA hospital and there are some jobs available in the boiler room where all you do for 8 hours a day is monitor pressures for the rate of $24 per hour full benefits, and 10 years until vested in a retirement plan (I've got 15 until retirement!). Sounds like a good old gov job for me! Sit all day, do nothing, and draw a fat check!

D2,

We all need to follow the lead of the citizens of the former USSR and become maximum Consumers and Minimum Producers.  The government already configured their Tax Punishment so we will never save any earnings.

I am very glad my family kept our big vehicles now that gas prices dropped and it appears that the US will not drill for oil.

Curm,
Minimum producers? Does that mean we all need to get union jobs?  The one thing that can be said about falling oil prices is that it really shows how the market can work if government keeps their hands out of it.

Either that, government jobs, or other minimal effort jobs with no risks so we can consume, consume, consume, all the government freebies while we drain the national bucket dry.

Yup, that's why we have NO new oil refineries since 1976, and the redundant blends account for about a quarter of the cost.

Once it all collapses under the weight of government we can then build it back as Russia is doing.  The US will be just fine by the 22nd century.

Yep!     And we can look to California to see what the rest of the nation is coming to: they're billions of dollars in debt and their bonds are worthless, so they can't raise more money to service the debt.     They're even thinking of ending college grants for illegals.     Must be serious.

I swear on my dead mothers grave. If I ever come into any kind of money, I'm OUTTA here. I'm moving to Mexico!

I have had enough of this place to last me two lifetimes.

At this stage of my life, I need a warmer climate and also need to live somewhere that the value of the dollar goes further than it does in our country.

Move over Rover, Stanley's gonna be on his way south of the border someday!

Close, but no banana!...That's not a 'bailout' that's a tax cut. You seem to be getting the two confused. Care to try again?
