It is very disheartening to see how ignorant these legislators can be when it comes to disregarding our present economic situation in order to push raising taxes on people who are already suffering mightily and will continue to suffer for at least another year or so. How dumb can these people be? Is it that they are so insulated from our economic problems that they have no ability to feel for others? This is flat out unbelievable. Let's face it, the roads won't deteriorate to critical levels within the next year. Bridge repair is another matter entirely. Our bridge systems are badly in need of repair...Here in Pennsylvania we have over 8,000 bridges that need repair immediately. But raise the gas tax 50%? That is too much, in my view. They could raise it 30% and get enough funds for bridge repair and perhaps legislate additional funds at a later point in time.

In summation, this is NOT the time to legislate a 50% gas tax increase for many obvious reasons. Do it some other time--but not now!
