We are moving to Taos, NM very soon. Here are several haikus I wrote while on vacation there a couple of years ago.
The Road to Taos (the road that starts and ends in Taos and winds its way through Angel Fire, Eagle's Nest, and a few other mountain towns is called the Enchanted circle....for those who are unaware)
We turned the corner
and started up the long road.
Enchanted circle.
Taos Pueblo
The pueblo lives
as it has for many years,
Bear mountain guarding.
Taos Pueblo (2)
Adobe highrise
over one thousand years old.
Anasazi roots.
Returning
We feel we are home.
Shivers run up our spines.
Past lives remembered.
Scenery
Adobe houses,
Sunsets that leave you in tears,
Mountain paradise.
Rio Grande
(the Rio Grande rive is far different near Taos than it is on the TX border)
Tranquil for awhile,
then the rushing rapids come
set deep in the gorge.
