We have been to a few animal rescue shelters today and at the RSPCA in Chesterfield I fell in love with Chelsea she is a cross breed and 3 years 8 months old and she is lovely. The told us that her previous owner had to move and were they were going couldn't have dogs so that is why she was there. She is a quite and little timid dog but didn't bark or destroy things and she just sat in a kennel with another one looking. We took her for a walk and she kept looking for the person that looked after her to make sure she was still with us so I think when she's settled she will be very loyal. They have reserved her for us but before we can have her we have to get the fence in our back garden to 5ft, it's 4ft at the moment and then they will send someone out to vet us. We asked our neighbour if he minded if we put some trellis up to make it higher and he said he was thinking about re newing the fence anyway so he is ordering it in the week and once that's done they can come to vet us. Jim told Pam we would share the cost with him and help him do it. Before we have Chelsea she will be spayed and all her injections up to date and mircrochiped and you get 6 weeks health care insurance too. I now have something to look forward too again and am sure it will make it easier to bear the pain of losing my Goldie and Hollie. So my friends I am just a little happier today. Here is a picture of Chelsea |

Thanks Guy's pleased you like her and yes she is really very gentle timid really but once we have her home and she knows she is safe with us and loved I think she will get over that. I am going to take her to training classes because they said at the RSPCA it would be beneficial for her and socialize her a little with other dogs and people although they said she was OK with other dogs and was with another one in the run she was in, he was running up and down and giving a bark here and there but she just sat there looking. Claire it's a good place to get a rescue one from because they make sure all there injections and everything health wise is up to date and they have the dogs history too so you know a little about the one you chose. Ohhh Sue what a Christmas present hey bet you can't wait. So now my friends it's just a case of waiting, the fence is being done on Wednesday and then they can send someone to vet us so will be a couple of weeks and fingers crossed we should have her. I am feeling a little better day now because I have something to look forward to and think about which eases this terrible pain and emptiness in my heart. Pat |
