Using Raster layers in PSP (any version) is the most easiest thing to do all you have to do is click on the layers buttons and click add new raster layer; now the purpose for this is if you make a mistake on something you can always delete that layer without having to delete your whole project, getting rid of only 1 layer is always better than starting all over again

another tip if you have everything on different layers then if you need to modify something then you will be able to do that without messing anything else up you can change things on just that layer
